Fantastic job!!!! Yes, please put up a link on how you made this. VERY reasonable cost in materials. Bella should have a GREAT time in her new cage!!! HURRY...with the link. I would love to make one for my babies. We have a trailer and I need one that I could make for them out there. I already have 5 cages but I need another one. So if you could post this, we would all appreciate it!!!!

Thanks for all of the comments! I do not have an link that describes exactly how I made this size cage. But I closely followed the this link on how to build a much larger PVC cage and then I simply drew up my own plans, and desired cage dimensions. Here is the link I used: http://justforfuzzies.com/Other_Stuff/Cage/index.htmlI got the basic ideas all from here. I purchased 10, pieces of 1/2 inch PVC pipe, I believe they came in 8 foot pieces. I used a hand saw to cut them all to my desired lengths and then connected them simply using the 1/2 inch PVC corner and 3 way connection pieces from home depot. The pipe was really inexpensive , it cost less than $15.00 for all of it. I bought the corner connectors in a large bags or 10 for around $3.00 each. I then used landware cloth, I purchased two roles online from ace hardware, $12.00 each, and connected it to the PVC frame using zip ties. Here are the things I did differently from the tutorial. I adjusted the cage dimensions to 3.5 feet high, 2.3 feet wide, and 2 feet deep. I created two doors on the front of equal size that open in opposing directions. I have been able to attach all of her toys to the cage using zip ties to fasten them to the landware cloth. So far I have not had any trouble with her attempting to chew through the net, it is fairly strong and would take some serious effort to chew through. I hope this helps everyone, if I have confused you guys let me know what I need to explain more clearly.

Would this work if you have chewers? Would they chew through the netting?

Rachel, I suppose a very determined chewer could get through the landware cloth, but it is certainly not mesh (which is used for repts). The material is a very firm plastic (vinyl?) that would take some effort to get through. If your gliders are chewers, a few natural branches and foraging toys would probably keep them at bay

Hi Rachel, The material is called Landware cloth but it is actually more like thick plastic (meghan is probably correct vinyl) and it took several pounds of pressure to break through with a knife. I have been a bit worried and the first thing I did in the morning during Bella's first nights in the cage was check to make sure she had not attempted to chew through the net. Thus far, she has not chewed on any of the net at all. She has chewed through wooden branches in her old cage, but not on the netting in this new one.
I have TONS of left over net, if you want to see if your gliders chew on it in their cage.

And do you need to drill the holes for the bolts or is it fine with out the bolts?

And whats the stand and drop tray thing? Is that were the feces collected? SO does that make the stand necessary?

Hi Cameron13, I chose not to make a separate food door because of the smaller size of my cage. Instead I have two doors, one on the top half of the front of the cage and one on the bottom half. It is very easy to feed her and change her water through the bottom door, it is at ground level.
I would drill holes and insert bolts at all of the connections. The PVC pipe alone is a bit wobbly and I would hate to have the cage be insecure and at risk of collapse. The bolts are quick, easy and cheap; all I needed was a drill.
The original design shows a drop tray to collect droppings but does not explain how to make it. I use a small plastic tray under my cage. The bottom of the cage stands nearly an inch from the ground so you can slip almost any type of small tray or plastic liner underneath the cage to collect waste and mess. This way the cage can sit right on the ground without a stand.

I divided the front panel into four equal squares and then cut the pvc accordingly. I turned the two of the diagonal squares into doors by creating smaller squares that fit tightly inside them. Just like they did on the website I posted.

Wait... your cage looks like it doesn't have the drawer thing to collect feces. IS that only with the stand?

That's a great cage. I made my gliders playarea the same way. Amazing how easy PVC stuff is to make, huh? I would say that if you think about making any more stuff (like toys or what not) to buy a PVC cutter. They are like ratcheting scissors and it cuts through it like butter in about 2 seconds.

No, I use a small tray on the very bottom of the cage. It collects all of the feces. You could make one into a drawer if you would like but I just bought a small tray to put under it.

We followed that plan, and are looking at closer to $100. PVC Pipe: $15 Washers/nuts: $5 Twist Ties: $25 Mesh: $25
And we didn't buy any handles or the bottom cage pull out, but we are building that version >.> I thought it was going to be $55 boy was I surprised lol
And we bought everything at Home Depot, so where you live things just might be cheaper or something

She bought some of her stuff online through ACE hardware and some at her local HomeDepot... that might be some of the difference, too. Cameron, to answer your question, you do not have to have a "food door" where teh "food dish" attaches where the door comes down like with a bird cage- some people use "glider kitchens", some use partitioned plates from the baby aisle at Wal-Mart, some use a saucer, and some use other dishes- there are many options for food dishes for gliders and not all have to hang on the side of the cage

I have a few questions for you....
What diameter of pvc pipe do you use?
Is the mesh strong enough to attach a stealth wheel to?

Ahh $100?? I did not pay nearly that, but my supplies costed less than yours. I shopped around a lot and looked up all of the supplies online first and then bought them from several different places to save money. You paid a a bit more than I did for the pipe. Also I found a 700 pack of zip ties at my local hardware store for only $7.00. I also got the mesh a bit cheaper online. I guess shopping around online made it a bit cheaper. I used 1/2 inch PVC pipe, like they do in the online tutorial. I would not attach a wheel to the mesh itself. It would be strong enough to hold the wheel, but I would be afraid that it would start to stretch the mesh over time. I would attach the wheel to the crossbar in the back of the cage if I were you

If you still have the links of the places you bought from online can you post them? I wonder if it would be better to just get a stealth wheel stand as it didn't come with one.

The only thing I actually bought online and had shipped was the landware net. I got that from ace hardware.
http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/(mydsy3yjjhw2twyuuosegaus)/productDetails.aspx?SKU=7003130
I used the google shopping option online to find where I could get the lowest prices on the other supplies. I am near both a lowes and a home depot and I found the lowest PVC price at home depot. Neither one of these local stores carried the landware net and that is why I purchased it online and had it shipped.

and the stealth wheel.... You could easily attach a screw to the middle post across the back piece of the cage. But I do not have a stealth wheel (yet) and I dont know exactly how they attach. I would not recommend having that much weight handing off of the netting. Hope this helps!

I am thinking about making this to fit on a desk i have. Would be 17 inches deep, 41 inches wide, and 48 inches tall. I'm not too crafty so i kinda think i would mess up and waste money.
