I would think that incense would be a big NO . With those delicate little lungs it could be dangerous if any of the "smoke" got their way. I don't recommend it around any animals or young children.
I love it though.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOOOO HOOOO, WHAT A RIDE!!!

Paula you are correct. Gliders respiratory system is very fragile. It is not recommended to use scented candles, incense, etc. due to there delicate respiratory.

Well, I am one that also burns candles and I have never had a problem. Now do keep in mind, there was a study done a while back that said the candles that had the wire in the wick did produce small amount of toxic fumes, so DONT use that type. I always use glade, and for the past 3 years my guys have been fine. Also you want to make sure that the candles are not right next to the cage. Maybe on the other side of the room and never have a candle burning while you have a suggie out for playtime. No No No to the incense however.

I dont have a sugee yet, but I do have chinchillas (also sensitive to scents) I would not use scented oil candles in the same room as them. I do use them in my living room though and they smell wonderful. Just wouldnt use any of that near my animals.

What about the spraying the perfumes in the same room? MY gliders will be kept in my room and if it isn't safe for them, forget pefume. Also our bathroom is right next to my room, we accasionly (have to) spray Antibacterial Germ Killing Smelly Good Spray... Is this bad for them?

Ok, I hate to bring up a bad memory of mine, but I would much rather bring this to light to save the lives of your gliders than dwell on my own painful memory. One of my gliders became jaundiced and she was housed with another female. The other female was unaffected, thank goodness! Deirdre was taken to my vet for tests to determine what could have caused her to become jaundiced. The vet was baffled by the results of the tests, because in conclusion Deirdre had some toxics in her body. The vet could not pinpoint what toxics they were, whether it was from burning a candle in the same room as the gliders, or from the carpet freshener used on the living room carpet at the other side of the house, or the room freshener in the bathroom. All we knew was that it was the toxics which killed Deirdre. So, I would say NO! NO! NO! to incense, room fresheners, candles of any kind, perfumes, body sprays or anything airborne. I lost Deirdre because of that. I miss my sweet little girl so much. Jen
