ok, those of you that have the multi colored libery bells, big ones:

WHERE THE HECK DO YOU GET THEM?!?!

I'm going crazy because I want to make some cage tags for my cages with those pretty big bells but can't find them at all much less in bulk size. Help please!!!!

Are you talking about the ones with the vacuum coated paint on them? I did purchase a bunch of them from a craft store awhile back, as well as many toys made with the same bells.. They looked pretty for awhile, but I started to notice the paint chipping off so personally -- I wouldn't use them.

hmmm, that's not good, paint chipping off.

My local crafts stores don't even have the big regular silver bells so those are hard to find as well.

Yeah -- the paint chipping made me nervous, but I mean, I guess lots of people have used them for ages without problems. I've just had way too many chip after just a day or two to feel safe with using them.

I get them through bird suppliers too - Teresa gave you some great links. Yes the paint can chip, but ALL liberty bells should be checked and replaced regularly because all of them will eventually rust. I find that the colored bells tend to last about as well as the regular NP bells.

Same place I order them from. Ann is great about getting orders out fast and all of the products are super, safe and there are always a bunch on sale, clearance or a dollar deal!

Maybe I just got a batch of bad bells..? My bells chipped before they were even washed once. :/ A few before the gliders even had the chance to touch the toys.

I've had the problem with pre-made toys that I've purchased from very reputable vendors on here as well though, so I am doubting it was just a bad batch.

Have you contacted the vendors you've had problems with? The "reputable" vendors will usually do what they can to make things right.

Teresa - yes. And they did make things right (which is why I am not naming names, and why I still believe that they are very reputable vendors). In one case, I sent back the toy with the bells on it and received a refund, and in another I was given a partial refund (with which I bought nickel plated bells to replace the chipped, painted ones).

I just wish that the vendors who make toys with the painted bells also offered the same toys with nickel plated ones... Some of the toys are so cute, and look like so much fun, but I don't feel that the bells are safe.

I'm betting that any of the vendors you want to buy toys from will switch out the bells for you. We really do have some fantastic vendors (some not so great to unfortunately) that are happy to make changes like that.

Yes, I agree with Teresa. Please don't let one vendor ruin it for the rest of us other reputable vendors.

I sell regular liberty bells here: http://www.thesugargliderstore.com/Bells.html

I have also heard from many people in the about the colored ones having the paint come off them, so have never used or sold them.

But I guess like anything it's personal choice.
