We came home today to find my female dead in the living room florr and a tail from my male beside her. We have yet to find the male and the joey. We can only asume they got out somehow and the cat got to them. The doors are all closed and I have the hex cage. There are no gaps between anything. They were all alseep in their pouch this morning. I feel like the worse glider mom. Where could the dad and joey be? We have looked everywhere. The dad needs medical help if he's still alive. God, why? Why? Why?

Oh god, I'm so sorry.
What a terrible story.. please don't blame it on yourself. What doesn't make sense is why they got out in the day, whilst they were meant to be asleep.. is there any way something else could have got in?

You need to find both the others fast, if they're still in the house. The dad due to his tail, and the joey due to the fact it's young. Hang up pouches, get rid of any other animals, leave the cage open, leave food out, shut anything that contains water, check EVERYTHING before you take it outside. You may well have to turn the house upside down.

I'm so sorry.. please let us know if you find them.

Oh, I'm so sorry! Please don't blame yourself. Look high up, too. They like to climb, and maybe the dad took the joey up high for safety. Be sure and close all toilet seat lids, too.

Oh my, I am so, so sorry for you. I don't know what else to say to help. Maybe the joey is ok and is hiding somewhere. Check your cat's favorite spots that he likes to hole up in, morbid I know, but it needs to be done. I hope you find the dad and joey ok, gliders have lived tailless before, if you get to him in time, maybe he will be ok. I am so sorry for what you are going through. I hope things get better.

Well, at least you found dad and he's ok....any luck on the joey? Poor little guys, I hope you find him soon...I would really keep an eye on dad to make sure there are no internal problems or scratches etc. under his fur you can't see. Sincerest sympathy sent to you from me and my crew

Good luck finding the joey.. keep the dad around for a tiny while, maybe he will hear the joey calling, and may give you some clues. You need to get him to the vet before long though.. shock could play a part, and a cat's claws and teeth are covered in bacteria that poisons the system.

I know this sounds morbid, but please be prepared for the worst. I'm holding my breath in the hope you'll find him.
We're all here for you.

Glad you found the dad okay. Maybe the joey is nearby somewhere? Tucked underneath something? Hiding under a pile of clothes? (Well, if it's like our house, you have clothes on the floor...) We're praying you find the joey safe, and soon!

Well, we turned the house upside down and no joey. Dad is fine, just shaken up understandably. (He got all the meal worms he wanted...lol) I am praying for the joey, but the chances are looking grim. To think, Little Man went to work with me just yesterday and was the sweetest thing. He educated alot of people at work and now everyone wants one...not only that, but he was soooo bonded to me. He would crawl around, let everyone see him, then go down my coller, into my bra, and back to sleep. Thanks for the prayers. I just hope I find him. One way or another, for closur.

The thing is, there in a room al to themselves, so they got out of the cage, and out of the door. I never in a million year thought they could open one of those cage doors, let alone do that and then get out of the room. Especailly when they are sapposed to be alseep.

After I read that story I went in an made sure all my cage doors were secure even where the food dishes go in, I too have a cat and 2 dogs that come inside the house on occassion and even though they are in a separate room... It never occured to me that the gliders might climb under the door... I am so sorry for your losses and yet I am greatful for the knowledge I now learned. How is dad doing? Hope he is fine. Please take care and dont be too hard on yourself. You are a good glider parent

Take care... Terre

I am sooooo sorry. I know that everyone here feels for you and is praying that you still find that beautiful little baby. I can't imagine going through that but it WAS NOT your fault and you can't blame the kitty for doing what comes natural. They hunt for prey. I have two cats and god forbid they ever were one on one with my glider, even with no more claws, I know who would be the victor. It's just a fact of life. I pray that you find this baby and that you don't look at your cat any differently and still love him/her just as much!!!

I'm so sorry for your losses:( I have little kids, and knew these critters would escape if given the chance, so i zip stripped all the doors on the cage, and have 2 luggage type combo locks on the big door I use to open to feed/water/clean/get gliders. I was worried about the kids and cats, now I'm extra glad I took the precaution of overzipping everything closed...snuggle the Daddy, he needs extra love right now, and so do you, big cyber hug...

Well, havent found the little one. I can only imagine the cat ate him since we have only found the tail. If he was alive, he isnt now. I left food and pouches all over the house for a week and we turned everything unpside down looking for him. I do have good news though, I got a new female, and little girl joey from a woman at PetSmart who knew I had suggies and her male had just died. Then, I got a male 12 week joey from Michelle. It looks like everything will be ok. It still kills me though that they died like that. Especailly, my little work buddy wo slept in my bra and was my first joey.

I believe one of them got one of the small side doors open as that was the only thing that wasnt right. (Who knew they could get those open?) Anyway, those are zip tied down 3 times each and I have three clothespins holding the big doors closed.
