Long story short, I have a pair of gliders that have mated and the mother has a joey (or more) in her pouch. I'm taking the dad tomorrow to be neutered. I haven't officially decided what I'm going to do with the joey(s) once it/they are ready to be away from the mom. Since the breeding "just happened," all be it....I didn't take the steps soon enough to prevent it, what are my options with the joey(s)? Since I don't breed them for a job or side money, would I fall under any kind of hobbyist title? Would I technically be able to give them to the breeder that I purchased the parents from? Just curious as to my options. Thanks! Jason

If you are getting Dad neutered and you have a little girl, why not let her stay with her parents?
Or, if a boy, when he is old enough, neuter him and let him stay with the parents.
Families are so awesome to have.

Families are so awesome to have. if it's a girl, i'm about 95% certain that I will keep them together. I'll see how the neutering goes over the next week or so, but I've definitely considered keeping the joey as well. I mostly want to find out what my options are should I have to move the joey(s). I'd rather be prepared than have to scramble at the last minute.

What vet do you use? Im in Augusta and curious Yep, you would be a hobbyist. Legally you cant sell the joeys to people in GA. But, you can to surrounding states.

i use Animal Medical Center of Rome. the vet there, Melissa Van Meter, is great and the only vet w/o driving an hour or more that will do more than just look at a glider. she also specializes in small animals. here's a link to their site if anyone from GA is interested. Link

Really liking this vet's office, Barbossa. I know there are other locations that neuter, but this is the first office I've called that actually new what animal I was talking about without putting me on hold while they figured everything out. They have e collars there, so I would have to make one. Thanks for posting.
