By now, many know our stance and why we have not allowed Rescues since 2005, for a refresher you can read more about it here Now with that being said, many have heard both Karen and I would like to make a change to this.

We have decided that after 5 years we will try this one last time. We will be opening a new forum which will be found below the ClassifiedCENTRAL forums. It will be called RescueCENTRAL and will have a forum in there called Rescue Me.

Things will be run a little different compared to how things are run in the classified forums. The biggest thing is, GliderCENTRAL WILL NOT get involved with any deals that may go bad. We WILL NOT get involved like we do with the classified alerts.

The second thing that will be different is this section will not have the classified rules applied to it. There will be no pm's sent out for bumping as there will be no bumping rules.

This forum will be moderated for every other rule we have at GliderCENTRAL. We hope that this works.

This does not change our policy on having raffles, donations, etc for rescues here. You will still need to follow the rules. What we are doing here now is simply offering a place for rescued gliders to be listed so they may find new homes. Who knows what the future will bring, but for now we are taking this experimental step and depending on how things go, GliderCENTRAL may take more steps or step back from doing this.

If it causes too much trouble or is not working out, we will remove it from GliderCENTRAL, and that will be our final attempt. We are leaving this one up to the community to decide if it will stay or be removed from GliderCENTRAL. We truly hope all will work out and it stays!!

We will be opening this up sometime later today, we will need to make changes to the current rules to reflect this change. This means everyone will get the screen having to agree to the rule changes.

As usual, feedback is welcomed on this current change. We hope that this too will be a welcomed change wave

I'm sure you will spell out the rules but one that came to mind is about 3rd party ads.

We all know there are tons of gliders on craigslist every day all across the country. They make me very sad because we just can't save them all.

Personally, I would NOT like seeing 3rd party ads.

All Board Rules will apply with the exception of the bump rule from ClassifiedCENTRAL. Nothing else will change. We will still NOT ALLOW THIRD PARTY ADS.

Great question.

Thank you for this change GC. I urge everyone to follow the rules so that many gliders can find their forever home thru this section. Thank you Eddie and Karen for giving it a chance.

I agree that there should be no 3 party ads. Rescue gliders should only be posted by the person who has them and is caring for them. Just easier to deal directly with that person anyway.

What a great idea. I have rescued dogs from Breed Specific sites and they are my pride and joy. It's wonderful that now there will be a site for Sugar Gliders as well.

Maybe my hubby will let me adopt a fuzzbutt this time!!!

GREAT NEWS!!!1

If it is YOUR glider, you must place an ad in ClassifiedCENTRAL.

If it is a glider/s you are helping someone else place, we are still NOT allowing third party ads per Rule 8.

RescueCENTRAL is a place for people to place an ad for rescues needing homes.

Can we determine the GC distinction between rescue and re-home? As in, only rescue homes starting threads, or anyone? Is a rescue a free glider in any condition, or any glider in a horrible condition?

I just wonder about craigslist people finding the GC rescue forum and posting their gliders as rescues for an outrageous amount of money, especially if GC is going to try and be a little more hands-off and have the interested parties work out their arrangements alone (not something I'm computlaining about, I think everyone should be adults when money exchanges hands).

Or, if someone has been served an eviction notice and has to move out ASAP and has no idea what to do with their gliders, where they would go on the forum. Would that scenario be a rescue or re-home?

Most of the rescuers I know of and have worked with either place their gliders for no fees or only moderate fees to cover or help cover the cost of neutering. (so they can continue to help more rescues)

I was always one that never charged but I have accepted donations. (they were very few and far between). Now though, finances being what they are, if I have to pay to neuter a boy, I do ask for his neutering fees (in my case $65, my vet raised his rates). When considering that this fee is usually for a pair or even a family, that is a very low fee. If I don't have to have him neutered, (he came to me already neutered) then I don't charge for them. Again, this is ME. $250 for a grey glider is NOT rescueing, it is SELLING.
