The other day, I saw meal worms that were higher in calcium (pheonix worms). Is it a good idea to give him these? I know calcium is important, but too much is bad. Then again, I only give Maverick (I finally gave him a name) meal worms every few days, so I'm not sure if the boost in calcium would be a bad thing. --and also considering he can't get enough of them.

I've never heard of those but your right that too much calcium is not good. What diet do you feed? Each diet has a recommendation for a mealie schedule feeding. Maybe if they are ok- using them sparingly as a treat

Right now I do a dry food (happy glider from pet pro--I guess the maker tastes every batch made to make sure it's good!), and then I rotate fruits, veggies and protein. I'd never heard of those worms either, but I just saw them and wondered if it wouldn't be a bad idea. I think they are just higher in calcium than normal mealies...

I tried those Pheonix worms a few months back and the gliders weren't interested in them at all. The Pheonix worm are also very expensive compared to mealies. I decided it was best to stick with the mealies .

What would be a good amount to give him, and how often? I buy the regular ones (the big ones absolutely gross me out-the small ones are bad enough). Also, what do you use to gut load them?

How many mealies you offer depends on what precentage protein the diet calls for. I'm not at all familar with the 'happy glider' diet. * Just found some info on the Phoenix worms ~ Mealworms ~ Calcium:Phosphorus Ratio 0.04 Superworms ~ Calcium:Phosphorus Ratio 0.05 Phoenix Worms ~ Calcium:phosphorus Ratio 1.52 http://www.phoenixworm.com/servlet/StoreFronthttp://www.forums.repashy.com/printthread.php?t=1077 I'm thinking that the fact that these worms are so high in calcium would have some affect on the balance of a diet
