Is there some way to slow the stealth wheel down. My gliders prefer the whodent wheel I think because it doesn't go soooo fast. They don't get their excercise nearly as much on the stealth because they just run a tiny bit and it is spinning faster than they can run. Anyone have a solution that they have used to slow it down? Thanks!!

I'm not sure about this one, but have you tried to tighten up the bolt more?? I know I have made it too tight a few times by mistake and they had a hard time getting it to spin until I loosened it.

Other than that I can't think of anything else.
I do know that my kids love to spin around on it and then run again and spin again it's so funny to watch.

How long have they had to get used to it?
It took my guys a couple weeks until they got comfortable with it.

Actually, I was wondering the same thing. It's been a week and a half since Ringo got her stealth, but she won't touch it. I think she's scared of it since she just spins for eternity once she runs just a little bit. And I tightened the bolts as far as my boyfriend and I could get them, and it did nothing to help slow it down. Any other ideas?

I recommend contacting SugaRae's Attic. If you go to this page there's a link to click to e-mail them.

This is the response I got back from SugaRae's Attic.

Thanks for contacting SugaRae's Attic. Hmmm, This is a unique question. LOL As far as I know there isn't a safe way to slow the wheel down. The ball bearing is what allow the wheel to move so smothly. Usually a glider will do a kind of leaping in the wheel but and then do the hold on and spin. And when the wheel starts to slow they will leap again then spin again. I hope I have explained that correctly. LOL I do have some older glider that no longer do the "gymnastics" in the wheel though. My chubby eight year old just kind of waddles in his. I am sure that this doesn't answer your question but I honestly don't know of anyway to slow it down. If you think of anything please let me know. I might get this question again some day and I would love to have an answer for it.

Thanks again,
Anita Rae

OK, the nut and bolt doesn't have anything to do with how fast the wheel rotates. The bolt is what keeps the wheel attached and should be as tight as possible. Please do not loosen the nut because that could make your wheel unsafe. The wheel spins on a ball bearing which is inside the black hub. As far as I know there is no way to slow it down. The wheel turns as fast as your glider runs. It doesn't hurt them to spin. Most gliders love it and the outer ring keeps them safely inside. I don't think that I have answered this question very well but I really don't have a good answer and I am open to suggestions.

I think the ability to "ride" it while it spins is what my gliders like the most. Granted, some of them have never had any type of wheel besides the stealth so they don't know any different. But...I had comfort wheels (cheap, noisy) and wodent (hard to clean and imo unsafe) and given a choice, they all prefered the Stealths.

I've been trying to think of anyway to safely slow them down and I just don't see how. But, like Anita said, they turn as fast as your glider runs. The control is with the gliders.

I've had the same problems with the stealth wheel. My boy Kojak is pretty light, so he would start it up and end up spinning in it for quite some time. He has even vomited from spinning so fast (though I think that was in part due to my spoiling him with mealworms and then introducing him to the stealth wheel). I've just kept the wodent wheel for him to run in and the stealth wheel for my fat Scarlet to run in.. best I've been able to do :\ I've tried several kinds of wheels for Kojak and the speed and design of the wodent wheel has suited him personally the best.
If there is no way to slow the stealth wheel down, I'd definitely be interested in methods to quiet the wodent wheel just a bit (I'm not very um, constructive, though, so if that isn't even possible please excuse me ).

vegetable oil on the two edges by the bolts on the wodent wheel really helps with the noise. Keep the metal stem inside nice and clean and slick.. no sticky so their tails don't get twisted up in them.
I'm wondering if there is some way to attach a weight to the stealth wheel to make it slow down some? hmmmm food for thought? My littlest one barely gets the stealth going and it really spins him and he sometimes jumps out and really takes a crash. I feel it is safer but they really prefer the wodent wheel. makes them excercise a little more.
