Chattrbabe....I use the old recipe as well...I make two batches at a time and also tend to overkill my fruits (but I am going to blame that on the food processor)....I leave the veggies (chunkier - pulse on processor) so there is a lot of "texture" to the mix......it is important to have variety but I don't do it with 8 different fruits and veggies....I do it by how they are combined....let's say you have four bowls.....
Bowl #1 - zucchini/bok choy/cantaloupe/berry choice
Bowl #2 - green beans/box choy/cantaloupe/mango
Bowl #3 - zucchini/green/beans/mango/berry choice
Bowl #4 - left overs from all of the above

so while they are getting something different every night, it is from a combo of those three (or so) ingredients......this way I can use whatever is fresh/in season without having to stress on finding 8 different complementary choices

It may sound complicated but in reality (and with the help of the food processor) I finish my two batches AND the dishes in under 45 minutes....

It's just like cooking. You'll eventually get to a point when you don't measure any more and you just make it. Good luck.

My two five month old female twins love this diet. I became their Mom at the end of April and have only had to make two batches so far. My breeder gave me about a two week supply to start with as well as the diet instructions to work off of. I feed 1 ice cube of the mixture each night for 2 gliders and Zeva and Zoey eat it up! I tend to do what GoGoGlider does as far as fruit and vegie combo choices and once you get the idea on how to do it down pat it is sooooo easy and takes aprox 45 min to do about a 2 month supply.

Ok, so I did make this up. I made a double batch and it made four gallon sized zip lock bags full of ice cubes. My new glider Kokanee was on this diet at home, so he of course loves it. He cleans his plate nightly. Apple and Tini also seem to be doing pretty well with it, but they leave a lot of oats in the bowl. Is there anything other than oats you can use? They still seem to be eating better than they were before. I give the two girls two ice cubes each night with their 2 pinches of vitamins. In the morning there is probably 1/2 to a full ice cube left in the bowl. Kokanee gets one cube and he will only leave a few bits in there.

Here are the fruits and veggies I used:
Fruits-
Papaya (2 servings)
Strawberries
Blackberries
Mango
cherries
peach
cantaloupe

Veggies-
Bok choy (2 servings)
broccoli
grean beans
yellow squash
carrots
parsley
sweet potato

Personally, there is always a little left over in the morning in most of my cages as well....I think that my ice-cube is a little more than they need.....as for the oats, are you sure they aren't little masticated pieces????....

I too have leftovers in my cage each morning. Sometimes it's only a little bit. I really fill the ice cube sections to the brim, kinda mounded so the actual amount they get is more than one cube...maybe 1 1/4 cubes. When making the diet the oats pretty much get mushed in with everything else so you can't differentiate the oats from the rest of the mixture.

The little chunks that look like 1/2 an oat are actually the pieces that they are spitting out.
You probably already know, but I will explain it now...

The gliders do not chew their food like we do, they suck on it and spit the dried part out... like if you suck on a lime and leave the pulp. The piece that looks like an oat is actually dried food that they have spit out.

I get the whole "chew on it and spit it out" thing, but their bowl looks a lot different than Kokanee's bowl in the morning. His does not look like that, so I thought maybe they weren't eating the oats. I will inspect it more closely tomorrow.

Could it be that he is eating most of his and they are not? or vice versa?

My bowls look different based on how much is left over. The smaller amount left in the bowl, the more it looks like oatmeal.

And I thought you knew, but I wanted to explain it for anyone else reading the thread.

That could be. At least I know that other people's bowls look like oatmeal too depending on how much is left. I wont worry about it then. They look nice and healthy.

I use the PP diet also. After mixing I put into the flexoble ice trays and freeze. This seems to make it easier to pop them out. I usually use three to four cubes nightly for the three furballs I have. This depends on the sive of the cubes (I have different size trays).
