Okay, I have yet to see a "cinnamon" glider for sale that is actually fed a good diet... This leads me to believe that the color "cinnamon" was actually normal colored gliders with staining from a poor diet. I see them all the time on Hoobly, however never from good situations, always (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets or other irreputable source (individuals selling pets that have been on poor diets) This is just my ponderings, and I am putting it out there to see who, if anyone, has true cinnamon gliders that are fed good diets and continue to pass along the coloration. And if so, where did they all go? Did the color get bred out? I am not talking about chocolate, buttercream, black beauty, lion, or any other legitimate coloration of grey. I just want to know the facts behind cinnamon coloring. (and I won't be able to look tonight, since I will be at work shortly, I will check back in the morning)

I don't know that this helps ya all but I have a glider a 2 year old male who has been on BML diet since I got him at 10wks oop who I have been told is a cinnamon. I can't say for sure as there are so few good pictures of cinnamon and I personally can't tell the difference between a cinnamon and a lion (at least not from the pictures I've seen)I haven't bred from him yet so I can't say how well the color passes on but his parents where the same color as him and were on HPW diet his brother(same parents born about 6mo earlier) is more gray then Joey. Joey Cinnamon? Older brother Cebastion standard

I have a cinnamon male who was paired with a gray girl. They never produced any cinnamon joeys. He is on the HPW diet. I had him neutered and he lost his coloring. I guess mine was stained from scent glands or something. I've heard that they loose coloring when they grow older. I think that staining from mother's pouches often mistakenly give off colored tones too.

Chevy is a glider I got from Anita. He was born to "cinnimon" parents and was as cinnimon colored as they come. Looking at him, the coloring was uniform throughout his fur from roots to tips and was believed to be cinnimon. Anita takes VERY good care of her gliders. Clean cages, good diet etc. However, once here in a different environment and on a different diet, Chevy is truly a gorgous grey glider. Not a bit of cinnie to him at all. Now I trust Anita more than most other breeders. Her love and devotion to her gliders is amazing as well as her knowledge of gliders. But Chevy was definately not cinnimon. He was a gift to Joe and I am so very much not complaining as I had no idea what color he was supposed to be when we agreed to take him home. Didn't even see him until after we GOT home. He is an awesome glider.

Couldn't that be staining from over-producing males then?
Because if the male you, Dancing, recieved had a daddy that marked a LOT, the coloration could have come from the dad, and that would explain why he changed when he came to you. Also, Erica, I see that your "cinnamon" male is also intact... does this sound like a decent theory? Or is there more to cinnamon than this?

No. Chevy had been alone for several months and the coloring was very uniform from roots to tips of the fur and all over his body. Scent staining is not uniform like Chevy's was.
