Poor Boy! I really hope the vet can find something out. So he can get better. He is sooo lucky he has you to love and care for him.

Brodie had 1 siezure at 7am this morning when he first started eating. He went on to eat quite a bit with no additional siezures tho so that is good. He has eaten at least 2x since then with no siezures those times.

Poor Brodie! I wonder if the infection is near a nerve, thereby causing the seizures.

I hope they are able to figure something out with that good sample that you got.

Hugs and prayers!

No additional siezures today while eating! laugh And his last 2 meals were fairly big ones for him. He just ate & ate & ate until this last time he fell asleep in my hands when I was washing his face afterwards.

Only the one siezure today, or if he has had more they have been so mild as to be unnoticable & he even continued to eat through them. He has contonued to eat well for me. I am hoping he continues to remain siezur free. He is still on the phenobarb & will remain so until we are told by the vet to discontinue it. Hopefully it is only a temporary condition brought on by his rapid weight loss & dehydration which in turn played havoc with his blood sugar.

24+ hours without a siezure clap and his weight is up to 77g! As you can tell he has been wanting to eat his meals when Momma gives them to him every 3-4 hours (off a plate thank you Mom, I can eat on my own now) Baby bear is doing much much better than he was even tho he is still a sick little boy.
Keep the prayers coming, they seem to be working!

Brodie is still maintaining his weight at 76-77g and is continuing to remain siezure free! I'll try to post some pictures later that I took of him getting groomed at work.

Brodie is continuing to remain siezure free. His weight dropped a tad to 74.5 but he is still eating well. He does not appear dehydrated (per the tent test) but I am keeping a close eye on that and have fluids available at home and take them to work just in case I need them. His appetite remains limited. He flat out refused to eat avacado or pudding and only seems to want his mix. I have been "lacing" it with the high calorie/vitamin food that the vet gave me and Brodie goes nuts over it and scarfs it down. I've also "laced" his mix with baby food chicken and fruit medley and he likes that too, but it's not quite as yummy as the other.

He still has quite a ways to go to get back to normal tho. He is still stuffed up and I just can't seem to teach him to blow his nose. I've tried, but he only wants to wipe it on me. So I've done the next best thing. I hold a kleenex up to his nostril when his nose is running and syphon out the fluid. Unfortunately it only works when he is sleeping. If he's awake, he thinks the tissue tickles and keeps grabbing at it.

It's just sad and happy all at the same time, Chris! The thought of you blowing his little nose gives me the giggles, but then I think of how uncomfortable this little man is and I get sad again. *sigh* Poor little Brodie...I just wish I could snap my fingers and make it all go away!

I wish you could too. But at least I'm getting some fluid out of his nose rather than having it stay in there and stuff him up more or run down his throat.

I'm hopeful on that point Connie. I talked with the vet today and he said Brodie's pus has grown so we will be able to run the sensitivity test on it to find out what bacteria is actually present. He was also THRILLED with Brodies progress and said he was quite the scrapper.

OH and Brodie had a visitor today. His buddy Baxter came upstairs to spend the day snuggling with him in his hospital cage. I think it reassured both of them to see each other. Tomorrow I'm thinking it will be Syddies turn.

I've been away from the board for a few days, I am so sorry you and Brodie are going through this Chris. I really hope they will get bacteria causing all of this. When will they do the sensitivity test?

Sending prayers to the both of you! hug2

Dr Kaiser is hoping that we will have results back from the sensitivity this week (he said he'd call Wed so I'm hoping we'll have results then)

Brodie had another good night. He didn't need sub-q'd and ate well (tho he didn't really want the yogurt, I insisted he eat it) His weight is 76 this morning, so that is good. He also wasn't as stuffy last night and his nose wasn't running as much. I still helped him "blow" it a few times but not that many. But most important......he is still siezure free!

I'm betting your wicking away the sinus fluid has helped a LOT. I hope the sensitivity test helps pin point what antibiotic/s he needs and he gets better real soon!!!

Brodie was not quite as sleepy last night. He still slept ALOT but he is also showing more interest in grooming between munching on his mix and napping. When he is awake he is alert and curious and much steadier on his feet. He is still not showing an interest in food other than his HPW mix but he is continuing to eat it and enjoys having me mix in the high cal/vitamin food the vet gave. His stools are a good shape, size and color and his gas seems to have gone. His sinus's were stuffy last night, but cleared up after I helped him "blow" his nose a few times. After getting home from work, I weighed him and was delighted to see that he weighed in at 79.5g!

Brodie is most definately feeling better tho..... he had enough energy to try to avoid the dreaded syringe and when that didn't work he told me all about how he didn't like what I was giving him and he would rather NOT take it. Afterwards he sat in his cage and tried to spit out the taste and worried Baxter who crept out of the pouch to see what was going on with his buddy. He beat a fast retreat tho when Brodie spit at him.

LOL! They can be so clear, as to what they're thinking! I hated having Roo in an ecollar after his surgeries, but it was so cute to see him pout! He would wait until he saw me looking at him, then deliberately turn his back to me!

Hoping the vet gives you good news today!
