Has anyone ever had there sugar babies "crying" at all? My sugar baby has been doing this "crying" (half hissing half crabbing type of sound)She has never done this before and just started in the last couple of hours. I think a couple of reasons for this might be: 1. I recently introduced Sugar to a friend's sugar glider. This was her first time being around a male sugar glider although he is neutered. She lives alone, with me of course. Could she maybe be missing him? 2. Just tonight we have some larger storms coming through and I'm wondering if it could be the pressure change and weather stuff like that. 3. She's sick and I need to take her to the vet. If anyone has any ideas as to why my baby is crying, please help. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

depending on the age of the glider, she hopefully is just in heat. I freaked out the first time I had experienced this, rushed her to the vet, spent $75, & the vet said she was fine, & probably the first time she had gone into heat. I do hope that this is what it is.

It's my understanding from your previous posts here, your gliders is approximately two years old now being about a year and a half when you got her. Just quickly skimming your initial post, I did not see where you mentioned if she had been housed with any cage mates prior to your getting her or not, but my guess is, she probably was.
Having play dates or even short introductions for a single glider is usually not recommended. My guess is, yes, she is probably missing him or a companion even though you may give her what you consider plenty of attention.
Gliders are colony animals and while some may do well as singles, it appears she may not be one who will.
If possible, I suggest your looking into getting her a friend. Occasional play dates with your friends glider will only stress her out more, so I would strongly suggest not doing that.
Good luck with your decision.

I guess I should have read your post more thoroughly. I actually did what I hate people doing, & that is to read the whole message & just not pick & choose, or speed read a post. KarenE is right on in her assessment of this situation. Maybe going into heat could be what has happened, but the way in which this happened isn't good for her. She needs a cage mate,& I would seriously look into getting her one.

She may have been in heat but. I would still look in to a cage mate. She took well to this glider which means she may take to others. If you get another (probably female or neutered male) and slowly introduce them you will likely see her become even happier and more active.

I also thought since I had a single glider I would give him a lot of attention, appox 7-8 hours a day was enough, but after two months I seen the difference in his demeanor changed for the better when I got him a cage mate. believe it or not he bonded to me even more.
