I have been looking into getting little Giz to gain some weight. Although Giz is small boned and I found some assurance that there are teeny weeny gliders out there that will not gain weight through their entire life, I want to explore this thought. Giz is currently one and a half years old and weighs only 68 grams. I received a PM from someone on GC suggesting that I try the renewed Darcy diet. My question is as follows: Would it be an option to add Ensure to his HPW diet? Even if it is for only a little while till he gained some weight. I don't know anything about the Darcy diet, but from what I have read, I can't exatly switch to Darcy as my other boy gains weight extemely quickly. I also don't really want to switch because the boys are happy with the HPW. Giz did battle to latch to the HPW, but taking in consideration he was sick. The last 2 nights when I gave him the HPW seperately from his fruit and veg, he finished all the Hpw and almost all his fruit and veg.

I would worry about doing that as the vitamins would pretty much be doubled, if not tripled. You can always add more beans and corn to the diet as they are also high in proteins. You want to increase the protein in a diet to help gain weight, not fat and there is quite a bit of fat in ensure. I know when Monster was having issues and her vet contacted Tristan, he suggested the above, but mainly in the bean catergory, including cooked Lima Beans.

Thank you Peggy, I will add beans and corn while I am looking into how I can safely get Giz to gain weight. Maybe this is just the way Giz is, I don't know. But it still is interesting to research this topic, whether I am going to change anything or not.
If I do make a change I will have to be overwelmingly convinced that it is neccesary and the best for Giz.

I inreased Gizzy's mealworms, and BAM!!! His weight is now 78grams! I used freeze dried mealies and will be switching back to silkworms as soon as my order arrives.

I heard that waxworms are much fattier than meal worms. Mine gobble them like little piggy's and they might be a good substitute for the mealies you give yours, temporarily anyways.
