crazy question... Bill smokes out holiday turkey breast... can the gliders have that or is bad for them? he normally uses like rosemary and stuff along with the wood to smoke it and infuse flavor in it...

Ours love Turkey too. We usually boil or bake it with no seasonings. I don't know about the smoked turkey or the seasoning though...

I know herbs and seasonings themselves aren't good, wasn't sure about the smoked stuff- as in the herbs never touch the bird, its just the heat and steam from them that gets into the meat... and leaves its tastes behind...

Smoked meats have alot of sodium in them, comes from the wood and smoke products and most smoke recipes call for soaking the meat in salted water before the smoking process.
That's why store bought smoked turkey is so salty and Beef Jerky, WOW! Outragious sodium levels.

I'd be careful not to feed smoked that is smoked for humans or smoked products bought smoked. Most of the time the smoked products have other chemicals that entice the taste to us humans, like monosodium glutamate, which is used as a tenderizer, but also has sodium content.

Maybe just boil their own little helping of Turkey. (-8

thats why I don't get storebought smoked stuff a lot, I'm allergic to MSG... and I don't like salty- so the brine is only on the skin of the bird... which is why I was thinking it might be ok... but good points about the properties of the smoke itself not being neccesarily good for them.. guess I'll just do something with a chicken breast for their treat on turkey day. or maybe just give them some of the sides..

I thought about the wings, since it's white meat, just remove all the fatty skin, maybe roasting them all by themselves without the salt added on Thanksgiving that way my little suggie monkeys could have their Turkey with the family! I usually have to cook two Turkeys so the rest of the gang wouldn't possible complain about two litle wings, ya think!?
(I get tired of being made fun of about my suggies, I tell ya, It's either "I think and do more for them" or "OMG, there you go again, Suggies, Suggies, Suggies!") Then they try to make me feel guilty too! Shame on them!
