We will soon be making our guest room also into our playroom. It has a base board heater to contend with. Figure we will need to build a frame over it to keep our babies out and off of it. Have read lots of posts and suggestions on glidder proofing. Love the checklist. Instead of reinventing the wheel, thought I'd check to see what others have done.

Good idea. You might want to build a "cage" to cover the heater instead of a box type thing, that way the heat can still come through but the gliders can't get to the heater.

Yep. That is what we had in mind. Not positive what the best material might be. We are also concerned that the cover could get to hot.

I would say make the cover about a foot in all directions from the heater. Don't know if pvc coated wire would melt. Maybe you can find a powder coated wire though I am not sure where you would look. That is a stumper.

Darn. I wish someone had already been here and done this. sounds like we are going to have to invent our own system. Thought maybe someone had to overcome before. All suggestions appreciated.

hi there I'm just reading your post hahah a week late but I wanted to share my thing on the heater we have base board heaters also we keep our house temp at 70 and the vents never get hot enough to burn we have the regular covers over the coils and I felt the coils and they never seemed overly hot just warm. Mine have never tried to go up and under the vent not to say they never will. I have a seperate heater in there room to heat it up to 85 for them so they stay warm here are some pics of what my hubby made to go over the vent if your baseboards get ho you could do a version of what we didi over the electric heater :0 hope I could help
lillie Thanks for the suggestions. I just now saw your response when I was searching about glider proof rooms. Your hubby did a beautiful job! My biggest concern is their getting hurt on the coils. They seem to have pretty sharp edges. I printed out your pic to give to my hubby. I am getting excited about our playroom, can't wait til it is ready. We play in the tent for 2-3 hours every day, but otherwise they are in their cage or bonding pouch. Too many dangerous things around. We have only had our girls for a couple of months, so don't trust that they won't go roaming and get hurt.

i think there are too many holes and places in a basement that they can get into and not get out that u may not find. they surely will find something somewhere. not a good idea. better to get a tent or i small room and glider proof it. bettter safe than sorry.
I am not sure what you are trying to suggest. I already have a tent and am in the process of glider proofing a bedroom.
