My friend just purchased a "sugar glider kit" from a county fair vendor called Pet Pockets out of Miami, and he was told some things that make me think they may not be fully legit or my friend misunderstood. They told him that they do not smell. They can roam the house lose. They can bond even with a dog as part of the family. (A lab) Maybe I misunderstood, but I don't think he was properly advised.

So now they changed the name to Pet Pockets from Perfect Pocket Pets!!! How sneaky of them! As Barb said, they are BAD news! The (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets have been all over GC for months now. A few of us are taking all the info from those who purchased gliders from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets and had friends who did the same, all the way to legal system! There is a lawsuit filed by a vet, too! I am sorry to hear that one of your friends got sucked into purchasing the glider "kit". Jen

Tell your friend to come to GC, register and he'll get the correct information he needs for his new suggie!!
And yes, pretty much everything he was told was wrong. There are lots of people here who can steer him in the right direction!!

Hi Gil!!! OMGosh, yep, send your friend to GC or any site OTHER than (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets's to get some decent information. They practically hold their customers hostage and tell them to ONLY contact them for info.

I was taken by the same people. Get her on here to get good info on raising that baby. Also get the baby to the vet! Alot of us had to contend with Giardia and it's contagious not only to other pets and gliders but also to humans!

I consider myself well versed in Glider care. So, when I heard the things he told me, it made me second guess myself. Mostly because I have never purchased a glider from a big breeder, I don't have dogs to interact and I have been feeding BML for the last 7 years, so any other diet that may not make them smell is foreign to me. Do you have any links to other comments or experiences with Perfect Pocket Pets? One more thing...I am horrified and totally scared out of my pants to think any of my gliders could catch Guiaria which is directly conected to fecis in the food....YUK! I have my glidwers tested for all kinds of issues once a year. Gil

Hold on Gil and I'll go dig up some links for you. I've had personal experiences with these guys and they are NOT fun to deal with. They were recently at a Home and Garden expo that we had a rescue booth set up at. Three of our animals got sick with giardia afterwards and we lost one of our Opossums!

Once again...greed is the main driver for these stories. Sad to hear about people like them. There is no diference between these people and third world country animal traders (as we see them in Animal Planet) In fact, these people are worse because they know better. Third world country animal traders do it to perhaps feed their families with no other resources (I am NOT justifying it!!) but people in this country whom trade animals in an avbusive way can make better choices. Absolutely Gil...greed is the motivator. The owner of Pocket Pets is loaded. He's selling a four million dollar house in Ft. Myers if you're interested...LOL

Maybe I can pay him for the house with BML cubes, fruit and fresh water which seems to be his needs....

I think we should pitch in and buy it and make it a sanctuary for the animals....it's a beautiful little oasis, complete with private pond and pool, etc., etc.! I'm sure the thousands of little joeys would LOVE to romp and play there.

They've struck again here in SC over the weekend at the Spartanburg Spring Fling, but once again, we were there to hand out the TRUTH. I know I was able to sway several opinions and also get a city council woman (and a huge animal advocate) to consider making a motion to ban the selling of them in Spartanburg City limits. Yeay! I know for a fact I stopped several people from purchasing before researching further online. They sold a female joey to a family on Friday night and when she wouldn't eat the pellets they brought her back on Saturday for help with her. They were told to purchase canned fruit in heavy syrup and soak the pellets to get her to eat them. I told them that is the equivalent of giving your child healthy corn flakes for breakfast and then adding a cup of sugar to get em' to eat them....sort of defeats the purpose. Why not just feed your children cotton candy as a meal? They were then told, if she still wouldn't eat the pellets that she'd get everything she needed from the apple slice!!! I asked them if they could name any living, breathing animal that could survive solely on an apple slice and they couldn't come up with one. I rest my case!!! So, they went home armed with the ingredient list for BML, the name of my vet in case she developed any symptoms of illness or continued to starve herself, the ER vet info, the links to GliderCentral and USGN, my email and phone number, etc. These people were great. They have available vet care with CareCredit and they love her already. Money isn't going to be a factor in determing what care she receives and I think she'll do well. She was VERY tiny. The man said he could put his hands in her mouth and could barely feel her teeth. I have no experience with tiny joeys so I wasn't sure how old they were when they got their teeth in, but it's apparent by her size that she's approx. 4 - 5 weeks out of pouch and not the lousy six weeks they claimed she was!!! Didn't they use to tell everyone their joeys were 8 wks oop?

Thanks. Ya know, it is just disgusting how they prey on the little girls. I saw this guy get down on bended knee and hold out an adorable joey and say "This is my little girls personal glider" and all the little girls just ooooh and aaaahhhhh....sickening.
