Today while I was cleaning up to get ready for Halloween.... I went to clean the drop pan in my trio's cage and Sophie( my oldest glider), was awake. I looked at her and said Hey Sophs!....what are you doing awake? want a snack? And then I noticed...she was giving birth! I have never seen it before and was so excited! I ran and got the camera and started snapping pics through the cage. I went to put the camera up and came back and she was running in the wheel!!! I thought it was odd, because when I was taking the pics, her baby was on her back leg. I checked her out and the baby was gone! I found it in the drop pan...so tiny and pink and started [censored] out! I went and washed my hands and gently picked up the little fetus and put it back on her. She started licking agin so I was hoping for the best...BUT I found either that joey or another one on the other side of the cage in the drop pan. I again picked it up and kind of held her and put it on her pouch . She started licking again, so I let her be. I went and called my hubby to tell him, and then came back and checked on her. She was in the pouch with the other 2, so I took everyone out and kept Sophie with me and noticed a baby on the tip of her tail! I took the baby and this time held her, opened her pouch a bit and put the little one inside for her. I checked her again a little bit ago and thought that i felt a lump, but I will have to check again in a couple of days. I feel so awful that this happened to her. She has had 3 sets of twins and a single boy this last time that actually just turned 8 weeks yesterday. Does anyone have any advice for me!?
Chrissy, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. The mom will probably end up rejecting the baby but not always. Miracles do happen. Just leave her alone for a while and don't mess with her or try to feel her pouch or anything like that because it could stress her out really bad. and suggie prayers coming your way. Please keep us posted on the situation.

Oh, I do hope & pray that the little one survives, but it's rather doubtful, isn't it? There's no way of knowing why this happened this time when she's had 3 successful litters previously...
Oh Chrissy, I'm so sorry this happened to you. I don't have any advice except not to beat yourself up or get your hopes up either, I had the same thing happen to me last summer with triplets. It's quite an experience trying to get those little babies back in the pouch, I lost all three. The one thing I still wonder about is what you could use to keep the babies moist while trying to get them attatched. I thought at the time that was the biggest thing that hindered me. I will keep you in my thoughts and maybe you will get a miricle baby. It has been known to happen.

PLEASE PM ANGIEH IMMEDIATELY FOR WHAT TO DO FOR THE JOEY. IT MIGHT NOT BE TOO LATE FOR IT TO SURVIVE. If you get the joey what it needs soon enough, there may be hope. I'm also not sure how ld this joey is though.

Thanks girls! I know that it's doubtful that they will survive But there is still some hope there. It was very scary trying to get the baby(ies) back in the pouch! They are so tiny....I was letting her lick it to try to keep it moist and see if she would realize that I was trying to help her. Sophie is around 5 now, and I think she just may be done being a mom, so I have decided to make an appointment to get Zakkie neutered.
any new info about the babies just seeing how the day went? im about to be a first time granma to 2 suggies( i think) and wouldnt know what to do if that happened to me

This is what I call a miracle. Great job on helping her with the birth of the babies! How sweet and awewome!

Woo hoo!!! That's great. I didn't want to get my hopes up but I sure was praying for the little ones. What a miracle this is. If one of them is a girl I think you need to name her Hope. If both of them are girls you need to name them Hope and Faith 'cause that's what it took for these little ones to make it. Now we need to think of appropriate names for little boys. Congratulations.
UPDATE!! Finally got to see a birth...problems ar
