Question on Joey colors #1591

I got a pair, with joeys oop (7-8-02). Both parents appear to be cinnamon's, but the joeys are both "Normal Grey" colored.
My question is: Do gliders "grow" into their "cinnamon" color, or are they born that way?
I know my late, beloved, Evie was a cinnamon, but I never saw her as a joey, so I can't answer my own question.

Maybe one of the breeders will answer you later. I think joeys are 'born' in their color. Unless diet is the cause of strange color. Sheila's Lucille has always been a cinny, I think.

The adult pair of gliders could appear cinnamon if they are wild caught. If they are not wild caught, it could be that the joeys will be normal colored, or they will darken. But they should be darker than just grey, they will darken up but they should at least be a brownish color.

I have a cinnamon female. When I got her she came with her very gray joey I am not sure of the age of the joey when I got them as she was one of my first suggies and had not seen a joey before. After a while she got darker and darker and turned into a cinnamon also. I feed the BML diet fruits veggies and insects like a good mommy should so I do not belive her color changed because of diet.

I own two cinnamon gliders. But they are not paired together. The male and his normal mate have produce one cinnamon last summer. Peanut on the other hand...with her normal mate has produced two babies with a normal color inbetween.

These two gliders are very dark with no black. Their strip, color around eyes and leggings are deep auburn.

The babies when oop. are noticable different with a reddish ticking so to speak on their coat color and will have the dark auburn coloration where it is normally black. They are not born grey.

That's the best I can do to discribe the color. Anyone else got a better version...please jump in and help me out here.ROWL

Ok
Some joeys pick up the genetics from a grandparent who may not be cinnamon. And the beautiful girl she speaks of is Lucielle and when I got her out at the SGGA people could see immediately she was different. I have received older gliders that have red tails and when given the proper diet turned to the gray color. I have also seen brown gliders get a red tail with age. I have never seen a gray glider get a red tail with age. Don't confuse marking on the female of the male. It is hard to tell the tail or back in color if someone is marking them. A glider's color will change with age, but a cinnamon is born with the red stripe. Lucielle

All this talk about cinnamons and I beleive that Puter is a cinnamon, not real obvious, but enough for me to notice, but his two siblings are totally gray. is this common?
Or will they show more cinnamon as they age?
Maybe during the gettogether, someone can help me out!

Some gliders do turn sort of cinnamon color. I myself own a few more gliders who appear cinnamon. However, they have never produced red gliders. Only normals. Also, they were not red when babies but brown and cream colored.

Only the two gliders that were red when babies have they produced red offspring....thus the true cinnamon color and not every time..... as each is paired with a normal color.

Ok
A true cinnamon has the auburn stripe from birth and may have a brownish cast on the hair, but the auburn stripe is the key. If they have just red fur and no red stripe, they are not cinnamons. Some of the red color has to do with diet which makes the fur turn red. I had a male that came to me with a red tail and now that he is on the BML, he is normal

Ok...now y'all have me confused (not hard to do lol). Anyhoo, Misu' was 8wks OOP when I got him, and his fur was brownish, the white part CREAM. I thought he was probably very *marked*...now he is almost a yr, and has retained these colors. He has no gray anywhere, but I don't know about this red tail thing. Tira is positively gray, and you can see the difference when they are side by side. I guess my question is, are there brown glider's and cinnamons? O yes, the fur on his tail is lighter in color than Tira's also. I guess I am just very curious. I would show a pic, but I don't know how. .

Thanks again!
