I am looking at letting Rocco go back to his original owner (she misses him!)~how difficult would it be on Naoshi for me to let Rocco go back to Tra's, & Naoshi continue to raise the twins on her own? They are OOP since 09/01/04, & even opened their eyes yesterday. She has no problem leaving them in the nesting box while she runs around the cage, eats or whatever, & I'd like to know that she will be ok without Rocco around.
Any help/advice/opinions/ would be great.

I don't know about seperating them. My Dixie has twins oop 9-9-04 and Dexter is such an important part of raising them. He has with each litter been one of the most involved parents any speices could hope for. You should also consider how bonded is the Mom to the Dad? Would it upset her to have him gone? If you feel you have to let him go, maybe you could wait until the joeys are weened?

I would strongly disadvise you to do that. It would put alot of stress on the mom glider, which is not good when she has joeys. And the dad does help out alot. It's best to leave them together while they still have joeys. Maybe your friend can come visit them in the mean time, but i would not seperate them it would probably do more harm then anything. But congrats on the joeys!! I love it when they open their eyes and see the world for the first time

A few months ago I had a breeding trio, and I decided to sell the male. After he was gone the girls were so upset that they ate all three of their babies. I would definitally advise against seperating the father

Oh boy, never, never, never separate the momma and papa. My friend was given terrible advise by a nasty mill glider company in TX to separate them. Momma and both babies died within 3 days, because dad wasn't there to take his turn babysitting. Gliders are great that way, they don't get hung up with gender roles! If you take the dad out, mom will never get a chance to exercise or eat. She learned the hard way and still hasn't gotten over it!

[:"magenta"]i agree with the others. separating the parents is definitely a bad idea, especially with young joeys. just my thoughts. [/]
