Is there a good link to approved cage material. I'm so confused at what is safe and not. We want to build a cage, but there is mixed information.
Any help is appreciated

I don't have any links, most get the plastic landwire at Menards, Lowes or Home Depot.

Just stay away from the coated wire from Riverside, sold my Klubertanz here in Wisconsin.

I just went to Home Depot and they only had one option for the hardware cloth and it didn't meet my requirements for spacing but I live in a fairly small town and yours might have more.

Here's an old tutorial on how to make a cage out of hardware cloth and pvc pipe: http://www.glidercentral.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/936813/How_To_Sugar_Glider_PVC_Cage

I'm really looking for more information.. what metals to use, powder coated or not. Powder coated with what. What is posionous. I have the material you are talking about in my current cages as shelves, and they are a Pain to clean.

I guess we need more information about what you want to build it out of. The most common cages I've seen home-built are out of pvc and hardware cloth. Are you saying you'd rather use metal? Do you want all metal, even for the supports too?

Yes. So right now I have two powder coated cages. Not sure what is under. They are much easier to clean than the pvc. My husband ordered a piece of alum coated with pvc, but it's seems kind of rubbery, and I have a couple gliders that would probably chew it. Right now one of my girls has to lick the cage all the time., so I want it to very safe for her.

To be honest I wish I could help but I don't know about any info on building cages except with pvc. Seeing as the cage I built with pvc cost quite a bit more than I was expecting, if cost is the issue it might just be better to buy. Unfortunately that's all the advice I have right now. I hope someone else on here sees this and is able to provide more info on building your own cage with metal!

Cost is no issue. We just want everyone to have a big cage. Does anyone know if aluminum is safe if anodized.

Aluminum. Anodized. I just Googled it and only if it doesn't have scratches in it. Cookware is made fom this but they recommend replacement if scratched. I would be very cautious. Aluminum poisoning is not good. Gliders are very small and if it makes a human sick, it could be mortal danger for them.

Gliders like to scoot their Butt across the cage bars. It helps stimulate their cloatia for fecal elimination. And for scent marking.

For the most part if it is food safe, it's glider safe. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I hope this helps.

So powder coated aluminum is ok? Does it matter the powder coating? I bought my current cages powder coated, but not sure if there are different grades

The powder coating is baked on and makes a hard covering, it is safe.

Anyone know where you can buy it to length. My husband found a place to buy the supports, just not the bars.
