So hubby is out, and I need to know something...what is the best tool to cut the plastic bird chain with? I have a 12 foot length, but I need to cut it up into small amounts.

I bought a pair of red scissors with ridges at the dollar store and they snip right through it. If I can't find those, though, I use either wire cutters or an older pair of scissors and just push really hard..lol

A note here.. I've had one of my gliders get its foot hung in the chain before. Due to a couple playing on it at one time, the links slipping up and down, and his foot went between two links, when the link closed back his foot became hung in it. I was there at that specific moment and was to quickly untangle him. If not he most likely would have gotten his foot out fine once the other glider jumped off the bottom of the chain which was putting the pressure on his foot, but he could have also twisted the ankle or even broken a bone if he had twisted or panic set in when this happened. Just something to keep in ming when buying toys for your gliders.

I have since found something they enjoy alot and that is using the plastic mesh that you can buy for a green house or to protect your gutters with, just get it in a long strip about 3-4 inches wide (you may have to cut it to this width yourself), hang it from the top of the cage to the bottom and watch them go. Put it on a swivel hook for added thrills.

I found plastic chains at lowes or home depot, and the little metal hangy things... both are REALLY really cheap!!! I think they only have yellow and white though.

Thank you Lynsie and Glidernewbie!

UKgliders, I totally understand what you are saying and thank you so much for the warning! I have a bird toy for them and they are plastic hoops linked together and I saw Nina playing with it and she was able to lift up the hoops and slide her body in between the hoops and then I just pictured Nicky in my head jumping onto the bottom hoop and trapping Nina inside. I removed that toy immediately and I used fleece strips to tie the hoops together so she couldn`t do that anymore. I don`t think they find that toy quite as fun anymore but better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for reminding me of that, I didn`t think that would happen with the chain though.
