I got a stealth wheel a couple weeks ago and three days ago I put on two of the nail file strips, the ones they sell with it. I noticed tonight that Ayla is having a hard time crawling on anything and checked her feet, NOT an easy thing to do, she does not allow anyone to hold her, she must hold you, (she has some control issues) Anyway she has very little nail left on any of her right front toes. Stitch and Lilo are still scratching the heck out of me. Has anyone else had this problem?
Maybe I left the file strips on too long this week. I thought since they only covered alittle bit of the wheel they were ok to leave on longer. Did I hurt Ayla's feet?? I can't stand clipping their nails, because the one time I did it, I only took the very tips off and no one could climb anything for a week or so. Lots of big crashes during playtime.

Well I couldn't take it any more, I took the sand paper off completely. Any suggestions on how long to put them on for AFTER her nails grow back? With the wodent wheel file insert, I put it in for 2 days every two weeks. Maybe it is the same with these. '
ps. I checked her feet again this morning and her nails are almost gone but at least her toes look OK. She got really mad at me for holding her down to look. She is pouting now, only running out to steal a mealie or two. When I was holding her on her back to see her toes I had a good look at her belly and ......Opps I better post that question in breeding.

Update.... Anita Rae, the maker of the Stealth wheels, (what a sweety ) called me this morning about this, she was worried it maybe a problem with the design. But I DO NOT think it is a problem with the Stealth or the file. I love these. After talking to her, I think that Ayla is jumping in the wheel from side to side instead of running and she must have just kept landing on the sandpaper insert. I have taken them out for now until her nails grow back longer and then I will put just one strip in for a while and see. Anita, your call made me feel much better

to be honest- I think one strip will make it worse as it will by weight always be t the bottom of the wheel... but good luck! our babies sometimes have shortrer nails then others- we can tell who ran more in the wheel by it!

T, are you attaching the sandpaper to the inside or outside of the wheel. When I attached to the inside, it did take off a lot of nail, but it you attach to the outside, their little feet don't touch the sandpaper, just a little bit of the nail hits in between the squares.

I have it on the outside of the wheel. I did not think about the weight being off with only one strip on.
