I've had my trim trax in for months and they're still good. However, I still do trim every so often, just not as often as I'd need to if I didn't have them. One wheel has the trim trax, one doesn't. You don't want their nails to curl at all and if you see them getting caught at all on their pouches or toys, it's time to trim - but just the tips!
