Well, after a lot of question asking, looking around, studying, and research, we've figured it out. His food. My staple food had gotten a little mold on it and it caused his and 2 of my other gliders to colic. Now everything is starting to make sence... Smegal had an excess of 1 type of bacteria in his stomach. We're guessing that the bacteria was eating the mold are releasing toxins into his blood stream. After treating him with Baytril, the bacteria wasn't able to eat the mold and he passed the rest of the mold. Now he's doing great and my vet said I can lift my quarantine (thank god). This should serve as a little warning though. Watch for mold on anything! My staple food was dry, but there was still mold there. I'm lucky I didn't loose any of my gliders. Even though I didn't loose any, I may have caused some irreversible damage to their liver and kidneys. I won't know until they die and I hope that's many, many, many years from now.

The weirdest thing is that I have their staple food in a sealed container. It's supposed to keep things fresh. I don't know how water got in there

I know that mold is deadly to birds and have been told it is very bad for other animals. I couldn't stand the thought of eating mold myself, so I check every thing before I let my suggies have it.

I check all of baby food and what not and I'm petrified of bad dairy products, it just never occurred to me to check my staple for mold... I've had dogs and cats on hard food for years and never had any problems, so I didn't even think about it. I just scooped up some food, add some juice and put it in their cage. I'm beginning to wonder now if that's why Yoshi died and Daisy is so small (she's barely double in wait since she came OOP over a month ago). Maybe Honey passed on some of the toxins in her milk... Thank god Brodey and Honey never ate much of it...

Well, the container had a little mold in the bottom, that's what let me know there was mold there...

I am glad you found the bacteria.. as for the mold, sadly not always can you see it. proper storage is very important. and just being in a sealed container doesn't guarantee it, condensation may build up as well. as most dry foods have some moisture in it, look at the experation date on the dry foods, but again , not always a guarantee.
