My Angelica is the best pet in the whole wide world. She has done many demonstrations at local schools. She has traveled to many places and people have taken pictures of her and she has even been on the "Fan-a-vision" screen at major league baseball games, I have pictures of that too. She has done pet therapy at the local children's hospital, and even given birth there for many children and doctors to see. It was of course a surprise to us all and a delight to witness. Right now, Angelica has 2 bulges preceding her hind legs. I had her at the vet at 11am. He gave her some anesthesia in order to probe with a syringe the bulges to see if there was any fluid in the large masses. There was none. He needs to do a surgery to see what this is. Without it she will die. She is so loved by so many children and adults and doctors. The doctor does not know what he will find, but is the type who always wants to learn more. The doctor says to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Angelica deserves this chance. Please pray for her and I'll keep you posted. If anyone has had a similar circumstance, please post it here. We, the doctor and I , have never seen this before and do not know what it could be. I am fasting her and she will go back to the doctor for the surgery at 4pm today. She is six years old. I have gliders who are 9 and 10 and not seen anything like this before. The only symptoms there have been is constipation/possible impaction. She has not pooped in quite a while, and when she does it is very hard. Thank you to all for your prayers and positive thoughts and your kind support. Edited to Add: Angelica is in surgery now. The doctor just called. She had an impaction between her large and small intestine. He is going to resection the intestines, but does not know for sure if it will work. Angelica is very resilient. We will know by how she is doing in the days ahead and especially tomorrow. Thank you so very much for your prayers. The doctor called me back. Sadly, Angelica did not make it thru the surgery. Thank you all for your prayers. I still am in shock. I will write tomorrow if I can. from 7/17/04Thank you all so very much. I am so sad. I miss her terribly. She came into our lives the day before my son was diagnosed as needing open-heart surgery. She got to know the Children's hospital staff well, doctors, nurses, the optical department, the gift shop, all the way to the cafeteria staff. They all loved her so much too. Angelica would allow anyone at all to hold her, feed her, pet her. She turned respectfully silent patient waiting rooms to excitement and happiness. She was especially patient with "special" children. Angelica traveled lots of places with me, we had to go up the east coast several times for second opinions and specialists for my son. Angelica brought me through a lot of tough times as a single Mom too. She loved it if I couldn't sleep, and I never got irritated with not being able to sleep because Angelica and Inspector Gadget, and the rescued pairs would be soooo happy to see me any time of night. Angelica lead the way for the rescued sugar gliders to learn to trust me. I talked to Angelica constantly, hundreds of times a day. It seems as if I myself have been silenced by her loss. People in stores would look at me crazy or walk the other way when it seemed I was talking to "no one" in my pocket. Most are curious enough to ask. And the delight would start again. At Christmas time when the stores were busy, Angelica would take averyone's mind off of the long lines and enjoy God's creature for a few minutes. Cashiers would invite me back to their line all the time and thank me for the delightful diversion for their customers. It is nice to write about her. I miss her, I miss her............. I go in and out of tears I miss her soooo much.

Oh Sherry...I am soooo sorry for your loss. You & the people she touched are so very lucky to have known her. Your loss has touched us all. Thank you so much for sharing your memories. My heart is breaking for you as I sit here in my puddle of tears. I lost my glider-soul mate, Mambo, just 3 mos ago, & I'm still waiting for my heart to mend, & swear I feel him wiggling in my bra & hear him. I believe he's still watching & with me in a way that none of my other "15" suggies are... Surely Angelica is now doing her work to help others over the rainbow bridge, while still watching over you...I bet you will feel & hear her still as well... You'll be in our thoughts & prayers...LOL

I am so sorry you lost Angelica!!! She sounds like she had a very full life. She was a very special little glider that helped many people. You obviously adored her and that is the very best any pet owner can do. You did what you thought was right, and now she is beyond all pain. I know this little angel is watching you and loves you so much because you both gave so much to each other. May we all have such wonderful relationships with our suggies. I would love to have that someday. I am sending hugs and thoughts your way so that you can heal and only remember the happy times.
