Today I was sitting watching T.V while my bf was playing with my male glider. Anyway my little boy likes to chase you around and as my boyfriend was playing with the glider I would occasionally look over and cringe at the site. We almost broke up over the gliders about a week ago and my mom got on my case saying that it was stupid for him and I to fight over the gliders. But he is just so brainless and clumsy when it comes to them and when i sometimes see him playing with them it makes my stomach go for a loop. Anyway he put him down and I couldnt hold my tongue- I said please just stay close to him, he likes to dart away. Anyway there goes my glider hoping away as fast as he can into the laundry rooom! he went under the machines. I was so mad. All my boyfriend could say he's gonna be ok. YEAH RIGHT!!! There is so much washing soap and other stuff in there. Anyway I TRIED to stay calm. While he wouldn't let me get the glider out!!!! So I made him leave the room. I put my hand at the back of the washer and my glider came to me. I'm so glad that he is bonded to me or else I would never have been able to get him out. I was so mad!!! I feel so bad telling him I dont like him playing with my gliders, dont get me wrong he is amazing with animals but he is so mindless at times. I think he has more of a childlike mind at times than his actual age. What should I do? When I try to talk to him he doesn't listen. I'm I being over protective of my gliders? I don't know what to do.

I don't think you are being over protective at all!!! I am very picky about who I let play with my gliders and they are never out around little kids Lots of people do not understand how sensitive gliders are to normal household objects. I think you need to have a talk with your b/f and be frank with him that you don't try and screw up the things he loves so please at least be that considerate of me. If he thinks you are over reacting, than perhaps you do need some time apart to think your priorities over. My husband and I are both equally protective of our gliders so it works out wonderfully. I can't imagine what my stress level would be if I didn't trust him with the gliders It's not about being over protective or loving an animal too much, it's as simple as having respect for each others things (I sound like a kindergarten teacher.... )Anyways, it sounds like you are just trying to be a good mom and no one can fault you for that!

What about making a room glider proof. Like the bed room or a bathroom. So when he wants to play with the glider he can only do so in that room. You should glider proof it for him. When he goes in the room do a quick check of the room to make sure there is nothing the glider can get hurt with. Or lost in like a drain, or buckets of water.

I think we are all a little paranoid with our babies, much like our human ones. You will just have to teach him (with lots of patience) how to make playtime safe. Good Luck!

Glider Greetings, AliAndra

The suggestions for educating your boyfriend and creating a gliderproof room are fine for the long term; but, in the meantime, your bf needs to respect you and your right to determine how your glider is treated.

My guess is that your bf is somewhat immature and that there are other areas of your relationship where you don't receive the respect that you deserve.

I think that you need to explain to him politely, but firmly, what the potential dangers are and that you are the final arbitor of the care of the glider. Explain to him the rules of conduct and advise him that either he abides by those rules or he will not be permitted access to the glider. If he doesn't respect you enough to follow your rules, you are probably going to be dealing with more serious problems down the road.

Be fair.....but firm. Should something happen to your furbutt, you will blame yourself for not doing enough.

I know this is a difficult situation.....Good Luck!!

my advise is to get rid of the boyfriend, the gliders come first.
