Hide and seek... Teeth?

Are glider teeth retractable? When Zoey's mouth is just barely parted I only see pink gums, but when she lunges to bite, I see a pair of sharp teeth on her lower jaw. Whats up with that? Should I be concerned?

Sugar gliders have retractable gums when the teeth are not in use. However, the teeth are fixed and should NEVER be trimmed, cut, floated.

The bottom incisors are there to help them scrape bark off of trees. A good page to look at to see the different 'stages' would be here.

Thanks SOOOOOOOO much! :D I wondered about that, I thought I was crazy for a minute, one minute they're there(crabbing and lunging) and the next they're gone sweet and loving looking.... That is so cool, I didn't know such a thing was possible. Thank you for all the information.
