If joeys bond, will the parents too?

If joeys bond, will the parents too? - 04/12/05 05:42 PM

I recently found two jelly bean sized lumps in my Sydney's pouch and I am soooooooooo excited to be able to have baby joeys join Sydney and Melbourne and I am absolutely ecstatic at the thought of hand taming them and getting to hold them and have them bond to me. Now my question is this: if I hand tame the joeys, will that help along the bonding proccess with their parents? I have had Syd and Mel since October and the bonding has been going very slowly but surely. They let me pet them and hand feed them but they will still try and hide or run away when they come out of their cage. If I still cant even hold them in my hand yet will they let me hold their babies?

You will probably have a little trouble with a posessive mom but if you start holding the joeys as soon as they are old enough they will bond with you very easy.Im not sure if that will help the parents along or not. I would think it may some since they will see you with their babies and if they see you won't hurt them and they like you maybe they will feel more comfortable with you... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" />

I would suggest to work on the bonding with mom and dad prior to the joeys coming oop.
Get a Sissy Pouch for daytime bonding and a dome tent for night time play bonding. Do these two things daily and on a regular time frame and within no time at all you will see how quickly you and your suggies are bonded and mom and dad are both trusting you enough to see those little ones when they come oop.

Best of Luck to ya!
