How long have you had your gliders? If you've just recently acquired them, it's going to take them a little time to adjust to you and their new surroundings.
If they are acting scared and or stressed, it's better to try and not 'force' them to inneract at this time. It usually takes several weeks/months for them to relax and not be afraid. Take things slow, this will help with their learning to trust you. Offer them treats, talk to them, but do not try and force them against their will.

It's normal for them to react this way if you've only had them for a short period of time. However, if they just started this and if you have had them LONGER and have not experienced them acting this was prior, NO it's not normal, therefore, I would strongly suggest that you get them into see a vet to make sure nothing is going on.

OK, then this is fairly common. Just give them space and time to adjust. Your going to do ok with them.....Sending you lots of hugs, I know it's frustrating but eventually with time and patience they will start to relax.

Definetly give them time. there is a great link that can help you learn to help them adjust.

Just what they said above...I'm sure it's just them adjusting to you and their new home. It might take some time since you just brought them home a few days ago.

If you have some fleece, cut some small pieces and tuck them in your shirt, or sleep with them to get you scent on them. Then tuck one into their pouch (I'd wait until they are up for the night and eating so you don't freak them out). That way they get used to you and your scent.

Try and be patient. Pretty soon you'll be on here bragging on how much they LOVE you smile

i agree agree

my two youngest gliders were spitten mad when i first got them and tried to interact but its only been a week and they have already started warming up. willingly getting in the bonding bag. eating out of my hand etc...just give it time ^.^

biting is normal too. even my oldest bites me occasionally for instance if i go in to get him and at the moment he isnt too keen on coming out.

the bites will start to hurt less. dance i havent had blood drawn in two or three years now. dance

they also sometimes mistake your fingers for food dunno ...mine often then bite realize its not food and look up at me as if to say "sorry mumma its just...mealworms squirm and are tan in color and so is your little pinkie..."

an important thing to remember is not to get upset or jump back. if you jump back they will tame you rather than the other way around. roflmao

LOL! That's precisely what mine do! If they get excited and my fingers still smell like the mealies I've been feeding them, then I know they will nibble on me. The nibble will turn into a BITE if I don't pet them with the fingers they've been tasting. smile smile
