How about pinkie rats - 05/12/06 06:37 PM
I think that is what they are called (I know newborn mice are called pinkies but not sure about a rat). I have snakes and this girl sells me my frozen-rats for them. I was wondering if newborn rats would be ok to feed to my babies? Or, is their bones to hard for suggies to eat? The reason I ask is because I can get them really cheap and anytime.

I'm really not sure about that one. I imagine that it would be fine.
Before you go adding pinkies to their diet, consider what diet they are on and make sure it won't throw off the ratios of the diet.

Rats work. I've fed gliders rat pups (baby rats with a little fuzz, about a thumb's length) before, but expect to clean up the leftovers, bones, pelt, flesh and all. If you're looking at them from a nutritional perspective, young rats and mice as food items are the same, only there's more of everything in rats.
