Ferrets and Sugar gliders get along? - 02/25/09 06:53 PM
I didn't know where to put this but would they make good friends? A friend of mine is looking to introduce them. Werent ferrets bred to hunt and kill mice that went into small places?

Ferrets would most definitely kill the gliders. They hunt small things like this by instinct, and should not be trusted with your gliders.

oh.... I have honestly known of a situation where a ferret attacked a cat. The ferret was not a little one... and cat was about 26lbs. This was at a student's home. They had lived together for 3 years and both animals were very well spoiled and pampered. The cat ended up looking far worse. Both had to go to the vet. Gliders and ferrets are bad bad news together. You would only have a ferret left

I agree. No no danger danger! Back in the early 80s when ferrets were first getting popular many people feed them live mice. They are excellent hunters. Have you ever been bitten? They don't let go! Gliders are prey in the wild so assume they are prey in captivity. I have one very fat alley cat who would love to get his claws on my babies. This is why he sleeps in. The bassement at night!

To be honest, gliders just don't mix with ANY animal! They will attack mice, hansters and small birds. And anything larger will try to hunt and eat your GLIDER! Best to have the suggies be friend with their own kind, and of course human slaves. LOL
