Will I hear singing?

Will I hear singing? - 09/29/05 10:18 PM

For anyone that doesn't already know- I acquired a colony that includes a mom with her joey. My best guestimate is that this baby is anywhere from 1 to 1.5 months out of pouch.

This is also my first joey experience... So I'm 100% new to this baby thing!

What is the age range (of the joey) that the momma sings to them? I haven't heard any singing but I don't know if she is too old now or what!

I'd love to hear her sing though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

my gliders sung to their babies right before they came OP. From what ive heard they sing up until theyre 4-5 weeks OOP.

singing kind of sounds like the, "get your foot out of my face" sound only over and over again, with shaking..haha

Last night the one we suspected was the joey made a little whimper type noise & mom came running!

Chad got to see it- I didn't- but I guess mom just gave the baby a little lickypoo on the face & all was well! So sweet <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/muchlove.gif" alt="" />

I hope hope hope hope she sings tonight!!

[:"green"]Mama's sing to their joeys until they are about 3 - 5 weeks o.o.p. Your joey may already be past the age where she will sing to it. Keep your fingers crossed, though & you might get lucky. The shaking that Lizzy mentioned seems almost like convulsions - like their muscles just can't stand being in the same position for so long. If you see the whole pouch really shaking & hear a sound like a cross between chittering & hissing, then you'll know she's singing.

isn't there a differeance between the singing and the chittering/shaking thing? What I have experienced is that they will do the chittering shaking thing to try to shake the joeys off the nipple so she can go out and have some fun. Also the chittering shaking sounds don't sound very calm and relaxing like singing is. I have heard singing and I think it is different from chittering. I could be hearing something else, but I only hear it when momma has babies.

Here is another post on chittering that Judie posted to a few months ago http://www.sugarglider.net/ubbthreads/sh...true#Post369696
