Protien for mom. - 09/21/04 12:32 AM

My little girl is pregnant again and I want to up her protien. I was wondering if any one has heard of Beneprotien, and if it would be okay for me to use it in their water? (I use it cause I had gastric bypass). It's all just protien, so shouldn't it be okay?

Is it a prescription supplement? It sounds like something your vet should clear.

I would be hesitant to use that product. Mostly because I do not know what the Ca to Phosp ratio is.

Other things to up the protein count are... 1 teaspoon of premixed Gliderade, 1 teaspoon of premixed puppy replacer or premixed marsupial milk, small amount of Zoo Keepers staple food, Mazuri or Monkey Biscuits. Any one of these items fed in small amounts along with the BML diet plan.... will up the protein for a lactating mother.

Well I didn't use the Beneprotien, but we did have monkey chow on hand so I'm using that. I didn't know it was protien though. I use the BML diet. Thanks for your replies!

[:"blue"] In a situation like yours, Bourbon recommends simply offering more of the BML mix as it has a lot of protein. In the wild, breeding season coincides with the bloom of the insect population. You might consider adding a few more mealies to the food dish every day!! [/]

I have been using Esbilac Milk Replacer mixed with baby cereal for extra protein. It was recommended by my vet for Gert when she has joeys. Gert has two joeys in pouch ready to come out in 1-2 weeks. This will be Gert's third set of joeys. All are healthy and doing well. Merlin
