Christmas! 2017 - 12/21/17 07:52 AM

So, anyone else decorate their glider cages for Christmas???
I was going to put in talk and travel, but I have some everyday toys, DIY toy ideas and thrift store finds mixed in there too.
Since I did this at night, I had 2 little helpers who pooped out on me after raiding the treat container when my back was turned... So I had to snap a few sleepy shots in pouch. Well, I got finally got the hint!!!

I did one cage in a winter like theme with the snowflake fleece and made them new mesh shelves with the same fleece. I've been meaning to make the other cage have new shelves too but have been running around with Christmas stuff. I hope to do it before Christmas or after. Each cage got a Christmas hanging toy. I wanted to sorta do a winter theme so Christmas wouldn't last until spring in the cage. :-b

Those are so cute!!!!

Love the toys!!!!

Question:
Do they like the cork?

I want to get some, but I was concerned about pee smell, or if they would even bother with it?

I think it would be a great texture for them.

Edit: So I was showing hubby your cages, and noticed some really neat details!

The mesh bridge in #1 cage has solid fleece strips which to me look like Christmas lights. LOVE IT!!! That is a great reset toy! Or they can carry to bed with them!

Pic #2 is that a plastic elf on shelf? If so, where did you find him? The present he is holding, is it for foraging???

Wow! I see so many things, I'm gonna have to flip back and look some more!!!

Anyone else see cool stuff in Kidquiks pics?

Ty ty!

They do like the cork alot! First night I had it in there I woke up to little cork pieces all over the bottom on their liner. They love chewing it! I'm surprised they haven't chewed it all off by now tbh. On the toy there are also little plastic mugs for foraging.

They've always liked the bridge with the fleece. I change out the colors with the seasons. They pull them out and drop the on the bottom. I have yet to have any take anything into the pouches with them. :-/ They also like the wiffle ball at the bottom with the pieces of fleece in it. I put two pieces in each hole. Last night they pulled them all out. Sometimes they pull a few, other times they pull alot.

The Elf of the Shelf toy has a clear plastic box in it with a hole in it for foraging and a cup at the bottom. I tried putting mealworms in the present but they didn't see them I guess and I ended up taking them out. I think the hole may need to be made a little bigger. I bought both the toys from someone on Etsy. I love them!

I love the Christmas cages!!!!

I'm planning on decorating mine this weekend, most likely Saturday, they also need nail trims (Skadoosh just slapped me in the face this evening during out of cage play, ouch, it hurt, lol).

I thought I had some Christmas toys with their cage set, but couldn't find them. I made one new toy, they have a THCT in there now, but need to ornamate it yet. I'll take pics and try to get them up here. I miss photo bucket too. I'm planning on doing a video as well.

Karen, love the Christmas avatars!!!
Thank you!!!!

I will have to look around. I loved those elves before they were turned into watch dogs for santa!

I'm looking for options in shapes, textures. I think cork will be good!

Thank you!

Dawn, I ordered some cork toys, ended up ordering a second one, plus loose cork bits to add some enrichment. I like it, I'll try to find the vendor I ordered from.

Dawn, I got cork toys from Bluebonnet.

On phone, not PC or would add link.

Now, I have to figure out how to get my Christmas cage pic up. Probably have to wait till I'm on PC.

Could someone please confirm link works? Thanks.

Re: Christmas! 2017 - 12/24/17 04:57 AM

Thank you all! I was concerned I wouldn't have enough in their cage. I had picked up another sippy cup, but never got around to making anything with it. I did make two toys this season, the hanging snowman bell toy, and the leafy wiffle ball toy. I couldn't find most of the toys from past, but I don't believe I had many anyway.

The THCT is a large part of what makes this cage work though. I think it showcases nicely in the design! Thanks again Dawn for the opportunity to test this fabulous creation of yours!

Dawn, I can't say enough about the cage color, I just love it! Even more so than the black cages I had, I'm glad black wasn't available when I ordered it, I would have gone for it.
