it never fails does it - 08/23/17 11:05 PM
Talk about having bad week, I had to drive 2 hours back home each night this week to make sure my wife couple make her deposits for her job. ( an extra 4 hours and about 200 miles). Not even home and OI told to get cleaned up so she can go meet her friend for a beer and chat after she gets off last night, only to come out of the bar/grill and find some a**hole let their cart slam into my truck and left a dent in the door. Not even a note to say sorry. I go and create a back up today of my pc and once it finished I rebooted the computer and figure out my data drive is about to fail so I am trying to copy all my files over before it dies tonight. worse of it all my system a has slowed to a crawl while trying to do all this and it only 200 gigs lol

Re: it never fails does it - 08/29/17 03:20 AM
and the punches keep coming, I had a wheel bearing that starting to fail ( roaring until you turn the wheel a little) so I take the money to have been saving up for Kahless Neutered and go pickup the passenger side wheel hub , Wife decides I should replace them both to be sure it the right one and she pays for the other hub, ( 6 hours later they are done ) but during this I bust 2 sockets I need to do this repair and I got the truck all apart, so I have to take 3 buses to go get the socket and finish up the repairs. take a test drive to make sure it all good and almost became part of a 3 car fender bender ( so glad I like leaving a couple car lengths of space between me and the person in front of me.) proceed to on my test drive and all good now just sore and tired doing the bearing is almost as bad as cutting 9 yards in a single day lol. and it to rain Tuesday and Thursday so I don't even know if i can get my yards cut, so busy I have work for Wednesday so I can't get a break. What sucks most is I cant have a drink to relax due to the medication.

Figure I update since it been a while, was doing ok until recently, Get up xmas eve and find truck window cracked, this pass Friday 12-29 in morning my service engine light comes on, and get told the Job I was promised to have when the outlet closed most likely won't happen (if does only 10 hours a week maxed) and the severance package won't know anything about until Tuesday. SO I can't win. Now I am freaking out cause I am going to need to start looking for work that I can physically do,that going to have at least 20 hours a week ( or more depending on the pay) figure out if i t will be worth the hour drive, if they only giving me 1 day a week if lucky. I guess it going to be another horrible year for me. ( at least if unemployed I can have wife make batter and i can make her treats for her etsy store lol. to help pay some bills. but i shall be reducing a lot of my cost if i can.

Re: it never fails does it - 01/04/18 01:44 AM
SO truck going to need either a o3 sensor or new injectors on motor, Neither cheap from my understanding. I am transferring to the other best buy ( a 45 minute drive to work on good days)and i being told it 10 hours minimum a week not max now
SO now i need to figure out how long I can run m,y truck like this before i can get it fixed since it our only vehicle. I am hoping that if i can get to the part that bad and do a simple swap out I can be up in a few hours if I get the right one lol other wise I will have to keep trying until i get it I know the o2 sensor can be a pain if it lock in good ( and considering my truck had original since 07 I might snap the exhaust first lol if it injectors I may find a proper mechanic since I dont do internals well.

Terry, sounds like work might be a little better than first thought. Yay! I'm sorry though for the longer commute, but things have a way of working out eventually.
I hope truck issues work out well, as I don't understand one thing that you mentioned about it, lol, other than it's 2007. I don't know auto language.
Best of luck though!

don't feel bad I don't know much either about cars, I just learning as I go. but roughly the truck has a sensor or the part that sprays the fuel into the block and one of them is gone bad and they not cheap. this is causing my truck to burn more gas than it should and can damage other parts if i let it go too long.

Re: it never fails does it - 01/04/18 05:10 AM
Mechnut, depending on make model, it can have up to 2 O2 sensors. One in exhaust manifold, and one after catylic converter. Google your vehicle with these problems. Fuel injectors don't necessarily need replaced. O2 sensors on many makes are universal, and can be as cheap as $20. There are u tube videos out there too. You may have to order it online to find a better price.
Some auto parts stores have a computer they can plug in and help pinpoint problem. If you have an O'Reilly auto parts, that's where I go to have them plug in their handheld computer. (Its free!)Unless your vehicle has over 150k miles, the injectors may be dirty, but a can of good fuel additive will take care of that usually. And sometimes clean the O2 sensors too if they are only clogged up.
Did I ever mention I used to work on cars? I loved it!

Another reason that makes Dawn awesome!
Seriously Dawn, I may have to run issues by you sometime. Keep that arsenal of info fresh please! Dawn's Auto Advice, could be a new forum added, maybe? Lol, just kidding about adding the forum.
though, if you don't mind, I'll hit you up with a question or two in pm some day.

Being a 2007, it should have two... but Dawn is right, they're cheap. Also easy to replace yourself. If it is related to the injectors, Dawn gave you the easiest solution: it may just be some build-up on the nozzles. You can also run some injector cleaner for a couple of gas-tanks (google before you buy, there is a lot of useless crap in bottles being offered.) Just follow the recommended mixing instructions & make sure your engine is getting fully heated when using (or it may make the build-up worse).
Good luck with the job!

Mechnut,
How's the weather up there?
You may want to wait a few days to crawl under your truck. Unless you have a warm garage.
The weatherman makes everything look like frozen icicles!
Thanks Hutch for your added advice.
Terry, I love to talk cars! I'm a little rusty on the newer ones, since hubby took over that part. But he listens to my advice (well most of the time).
Mechnut, since it's so cold outside, a good fuel treatment will not hurt.

Well i always used the stp injector cleaner ( and high test gas) but no difference and I always warm the truck up at least 5 minutes before i to leave cause i like a warm butt ..
I got about 2 inches of snow and I used 4x4 a couple places when I had ot go out. I also got a tattoo this past Thursday so i not actually going to do much to rick damaging it lol. ( was my xmas and birthday gift from my wife so) I rather she held onto the money encase this transfer screws up our money for a few weeks.

Try the Lucas oil fuel injector cleaner. I think it's about $8- 12 for 1 tank. Pay for the big bottle. Put in at half tank, drive to fuel station and fill up. Stp, IMHO, works great to remove condensation in fuel this time of year, that's it. Also the high end chevron injector cleaner works in a pinch at $7 a bottle. We have always used regular fuel. No enthanol.

Re: it never fails does it - 01/07/18 02:40 AM
sadly every gas here has ethanol here up to 15% now i think. i got a feeling it just a bad o2 sensor and i need to look at figuring out which one it may be.

I'm not a fan of STP's products. Several magazines have done reviews & comparisons in the past, & have shown they under-perform & sometimes actually causes performance loss &/or fouling. An additional suggestion, you don't need to run additives all the time (despite STP's instructions). Producers already put so much of them in gasoline, additives are only needed to augment occasionally; think of it like antibiotics help your immune system as needed.

Another good one is Royale Purple. A little pricey, but generally reviews well in comparison tests (so does the Lucas Dawn mentioned). I also try to avoid high concentrations of ethanol... so many issues.

Ethanol... It's taking over everywhere
I believe Dawn mentioned before that many auto parts places will do a free code scan. Depending on how fancy their device is, it may be able to tell you which one. If not, both are usually the same part number. Worse case is you can swap one for a new sensor & if nothing changes, switch them. (Double-check that your part numbers ARE in fact the same, please, lol.)
I also got a tattoo this past Thursday so i not actually going to do much to rick damaging it lol.
Your first or an additional? I've deployed with a fresh one: Plenty of moisturizers will keep it safe.

Hutch I could scare you with all the anime titles I watched lol. ( these days I limit my self to only a couple shows at a time, but I got a long list of them. I started with goddesses and chobits and it gone from there the amv hell videos really help me find other shows as I looked for new stuff and really helped me avoid a few too.
but sadly today I had the crap scared out of me as my windshield finish splitting across the entire glass so it jumped from like a 1 ft long crack a to all the way over in a single loud pop, I almost jumped out of the roof when the pop happened cause i didn't know what happened at first then I saw the crack had enlarged and almost was like dang that was sudden and went about my day ( I am not going to have it fixed until the engine light is off and fixed . then I will do the glass and go from there. ( figure if I trade the truck in why sink 800+ into repairs when I can put to the down payment and let them fix it before the auction ( cause i know that where the truck will end up)

Re: it never fails does it - 01/20/18 03:46 PM
well interesting day, truck got fixed ( engine issue) turns out one of the intake manifolds seals failed and they were easy to replace. Joking with mechanic and if that didn't work it might of been a crack in the intake since it all plastic and we have to take it to a dealer and they find it fast. Gliders are doing great about taking their meds. lol so that a relief Now if i can only get working I be happier.
