Wodent Wheel Hardware (Washers and Pins)

Wodent Wheel Hardware (Washers and Pins) - 08/23/05 06:24 PM

Hello Glider Lovers!

Well, the inevitble has happened; my "static" Wodent Wheels (the ones tied to the cage) are running low on metal Pins, and I am wanting to replace them, and possible get a few hundred spares

Does anyone know where I can buy similar Pins and plastic washers without having to go through the Wodent Wheel manufacturer? I figure I may be able to head to Home Depot and find some of these items, but am curious if there is an online hardware supplier that I can use for this as well.

The pin is just the P shaped, jagged sided pin that holds the wheel and washers on the wheel. The Washers, I am sure, I can get from any hardware store.

The pins are called carter pins and you should be able to pick them up at any hardware store. Same for the plastic washers.

Thanks Dancing. Appreciate it.

Any idea on the size of the washers?

Edit: Oh, and it is spelled "cotter" pins

We lost our cotter pin within the first week & could never find one tiny enough to fit!! We ended up just using a small safety pin and it works great! The babies never touch it and they can't even really reach it even if they try. It is a little hard to get it off sometimes- especially if the wheel is attached to the back of the cage & you're trying to reach through the door and do it- but it is possible.

I have actually found several sources for this part. The actual name of the pins is a "hairpin cotter". Also, RANDY informed me that they are often refered to as hitch pins. I found many online suppliers for these, and also hear that they are readily available at Home Depot in the same aisle as nuts and bolts.

As for the washers, I am sure you can get these ANYWHERE. I plan on taking one of each part to Home Depot tonight, and stocking up so that, no matter how many I lose, I will have replacements
