cage concern

cage concern - 11/24/05 05:59 PM

I have redone a parrot cage that is 6 ft tall and 2 ft wide on both sides. Of course, I am putting the black plastic mesh for obvious reasons. But my question is, do I have to do anything special while getting them used to the new cage? Will they just accept it or will they have trouble. The cage my babies are in now is 3ft tall and 18in each side.

When you transfer them to the new cage, put their pouches and toys in the new cage without washing them. That way, even though the cage is new, it still will have their scent and they should have no problems with the change. I'm sure they will love the extra room.

When i got my gliders, they had never had a pouch or toy (at least i think they had never had it.)
I just put them in the cage at bright day ( later i heard that that is the best thing to do becaus they can get just to the smell while they are a sleep. the first day i dident took them out. i noticed that they where soon ajusted to ther new cage. somtimes they dont want to come out.

As always Teresa, GREAT IDEA. I do tend to wash all thier stuff about twice a week and it is coming up on the time.
