The Critter Room - Pictures!

The Critter Room - Pictures! - 08/07/05 10:02 AM

I thought I would finally get off my lazy bum and take pictures of the *new* critter room. I've updated my cage gallery with the new pictures. The pictures of their new room are on page 1 and the pictures of their old room are on page 2. Their old room was about twice the size of their new room...but having a smaller room makes it more jungle like. I decided to leave up the old pictures so that people could get ideas from either room.

The gliders and the flyers share this room. Whenever a pair of critters is out playing, I drape a big sheet over the other cages.

Okay, that's just way too cool. Those have to be the most spoiled suggies and flyers in the world.

Does that stuff come in extra extra large? I want a Critter Room...for myself!

Katie, your critter room is awesome. Syd and I were trying to tell my hubby about it when we got back from SGGA, and I didn't even think about there being pics in your gallery.

I actually saw things in the pictures that I didn't even notice in real life because when you go in it, it's just so overwhelming. I didn't even remember seeing that big plastic yellow spiral thingy. I know the critters love exploring and finding new things in there.

Hmm, I don't have plans today. Maybe I'll go get some ropes and hooks and start making something for them to climb on here. I could hang up ALL my pouches and toys rather than keeping the extras in a drawer and rotating which ones go in the cage.

Thanks for the compliments on the critter room! My boyfriend is actually the "creative genius" when it comes to putting things up in the room...I just buy all of the stuff. ha ha

Javier...thanks for the Astroturf suggestion, but we really don't have a big problem with poo and food. I just make sure to keep it vacuumed. Also, I have a glider, Abby who is a "floor glider"...she'd rather be running around on the floor than hanging out on top of things...and I worry about her chewing on stuff like that.

Stunning! I'd love something like that for my furry babies! Pardon this question...but how do you keep up with keeping everything clean? Once again, that is an amazing set up...thanks so much for sharing...it's quite inspirational!

WOW! That's so cool. Wish I had an extra room to do something like that. Then again... my son will be old enough to leave home in two years ... Hmmmmmmm LOL
I don't have my gliders yet but you've shown me some really neat things I can do before they get here. Thanks for sharing, that room is awesome!

Hi! Thanks for the compliments on our critter room! It's really important to us that our babies have a fun & safe room to play in.

Keeping it clean, really isn't very hard, as long as you stay on top of it. What really helps is using a "Glider Kitchen" to serve the gliders their food in. BMXGirl came up with the idea about a year and a half ago and we've been using them ever since. Cuts down on food mess by 100%! It also helps that the flyers use the bathroom in their own preferred designated area...like one corner of their cage...unlike suggies who will go where ever and whenever they feel the need.

Other than that, I just keep the room vacuumed and clean the cages about every two weeks. I also use a steam cleaner to clean the toys and ropes and things hanging in the room. The hot steam freshens the fabric and kills germs and bacteria.

ha ha Rischa! You're right...I did say that didn't I? Didn't I say I would commission Jon out to do it...he's the one who puts all the stuff up...I just buy it!

Your critter play room is pretty cool too though! I was looking at your cage gallery just last night I believe...and that play room is impressive!

Here's BMXGirl's original post:
BMXGirl's Glider Kitchen Idea

We use a rectangular shaped plastic storage bin turned up-side-down. We drilled a hole on each end. You can find them at the Dollar Tree in the storage container section.
