Tent time toys?

Tent time toys? - 12/13/05 06:26 AM

Does anyone have some good toys that are fun to have during tent time. I've come to realize that my suggies love to play with the simplest things sometimes...I buy them all of these toys and they are more content with paper towel rolls. I would love some new ideas for fun toys. Thanks!

I know my girls love the craft poms (you know, the poofy balls?) I'll hook my thumb under my index finger and flip the ball. They leap and jump for it, having a blast!
I made up a braided fleece bridge and hung it in the tent, they'll dive off of it and crash-land on my head lol.
Cheap and easy toys are great! I spent a lot on really hyped up toys, my girls haven't even touched them
Oh! And feathers too! I found a bag of undyed feathers in a painting store, they love chasing them! But, if they're trying to eat it of course don't let them.

Mine love also the pompons, espacialy troughing them from above,i have them in a hangmat.
i had a keychain of fur ( it's a bout 15 cm long) they love that, the have taken it apart en alway's hiding it, everyday i put it in a other place, and every day day take it to there "hiding place"(like i wouldent find it LOL).
The love to "atack" when i am wigeling it.
they also like ribbons with bels, or a cattoy Like a boa on a stick.

But i say go for the pompons.
(i heard on the forum that barrelof monkeys is a blast but i cant get it in the Netherlands )

The nicest think is to change the toys almost every week then it stayce exacting and over a week it is a "new" toy for them.

have fun.

The one "fancy" toy we bought off ebay for them is a huge frizbee that hangs with ropes and toys ...they climb up and jump onto it and it starts swinging! They love this thing! Also, plastic jacks are great..they can pack em around and chase them. We also got a little tiny water and snack set for hamsters at the pet store to set in there for when they get thirsty and for snacks

How do you attach things to the tent. I didn't want to use safety pins, but I can't find another way. Thanks

There should be a flashlight tie at the top, as well as 4 loops for a clip-on shelf - that's what I use. You can slide baby rings through those easily enough.

If you buy the big baby diaper safety pins, I don't see a problem with using them, tent time is supervised time - so you'll always be there to watch anyways.

I like to go to thrift stores and check out the baby toys. They're usually only like a quarter & you can find some cool stuff. Just toss it in the dishwasher to get sterilized & you're good to go - just make sure it's in good repair.

My kids also like straws and tissue boxes. Fawkes' favorite is his Jellyfish - that's a tent toy I make (honestly not trying to promote, but it is his fave) he likes it better hung from the ceiling though so he can jump to it from the curtains. Funny how they never want to use things how they were meant to be used, eh?

Zoe's fave, I learned on accident. She's all about enrichment toys. For her, I save old yogie containers (the tupperware type). Then leave like 1 treat in each & hide them all over during playtime. She wraps herself around the whole jar & prys the lid off, it's the funniest thing - that girl will do anything for a yogie!

Monster likes the plastic clothes hangers - they make baby sizes. Turns out that they're really fun to clank together - who knew?

The twins (Cino & Seti) love to chew - so they're easy. cleaned Aspen branches (or any safe wood for that matter) - they'll go to town for ever.

Stewie just likes to get into mischeif - there isn't really a toy for him, he could care less as long as he can throw it!

And Stewart Little just likes to be on me!

It's funny you mention hangers Gina, Gizzy has a thing about swinging (I just posted in another post how Gizzy gets his slinky that I hang from the top of his tent to bounce up and down with him on it lol)....I have a jumprope that I strung from one end of the tent to the other that Gizzy runs across like a tightrope walker, and I hang hangers from it....Gizzy will perch himself on my shoulder and literally THROW himself at the hangers so that when he lands they swing back and forth....he gets this annoyed look on his face when they stop moving, so then it's back to my shoulder for another dive....all the "toys" I bought for Gizzy he barely touches....his favorite thing is to play "Find the Blankie"....I'll hide all his favorite blankies in various places in the tent (including you Insulator pouch Gina lol) and he goes "blankie hunting"....he will RIP the blankies out of their hiding place and, I'm not kidding, run around with 2-3 blankies in his mouth all around the tent....if I had only known how easily amused he is.........
