old wooden spools

old wooden spools - 04/19/06 04:40 AM

I have seen a few toys out there with spools on them. I have a few old wooden spools I got from my grandma's house about 6 years ago. They are in good shape, no splinters. Are these safe to use as is, should they be coated with polyurethane, or should I just keep them in the mason jar as a sentimental, antiquey thing?
Just trying to come up with toy ideas with things I have lying around the house.

Personally, I would keep them in a jar and hold on to them. They dont make that kind any more...everything is plastic!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Ya - hang onto them! You can buy wooden spool type toy parts at a craft store.
