Material other than Fleece?

Material other than Fleece? - 03/26/06 04:27 AM

Gidget is doing much better, and is able to climb all over the cage. However, she is not strong enough to pull her nails out of fleece when it gets caught. She doesn't get them caught in any stitches at all, just the regular fleece that the pouches are made out of. I have been keeping the pouch down on the bottom of the cage because of this, but I would like to know if there are pouches that are made of any different material that her nails would not get caught in. Even if they are trimmed, they get caught, and I don't know what else to do. I'm afraid she is going to hurt her legs, and she doesn't need any more problems with them. Any ideas?

There are several different choices out there for pouches other than fleece such as cotton, cordaroy, flannel, but I would think no matter what the material if she has sharp tips then she is going to get them hung up. What you may want to do is either put some sand paper in her wheel to try and keep her nails filed down or take a file and file them yourself. It really doesnt take a lot to get that point off there if you use a nail file. HTH

I clip her nails almost every day, and she has the stealth with the sandpaper. Even if they are clipped, she gets them caught. I've put her on a dish towel, the soft flour sack kind, and even on those she sometimes gets caught. ???

I highly suggest using denim...not the denim you can buy in the fabric stores, but a good old pair of your own jeans denim.
