Update on Precious - 12/14/02 04:06 AM

Hi Everyone, <img border="0" alt="wave" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" />
Just wanted to let you know how Precious' visit to the Vet. went this morning. Dr. Cowan said she was looking great! As a matter of fact she was so pleased with the way the burns are healing; She took Precious into the next examing room so Dr. Scott could look at her. Now we only have to come back in every 2 weeks. (as long as she has no problems) Burns take a long time to heal so it's slow going. I can hardly believe I've had her almost 5 weeks now. The time seems to have flew by. Well, it's time to go play with Precious <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> . Things are really looking good for her <img border="0" alt="thumb" title="" src="graemlins/thumb.gif" />

Happy Holidays All, <img border="0" alt="dance" title="" src="graemlins/dance.gif" />

Re: Update on Precious - 12/18/02 06:27 AM

Hi Everyone,
Well, I glider proofed my Master bath & last night went pretty good. Precious was playing & climbing. I sat in the garden tub with cat toys around me but she didn't want to play with them. She wanted to climb on me & all around the tub, plants & curtains. I even brought her cage in there for the night. Placed it in the garden tub so she could get in & out of the tub with ease. I even fixed a walking stick (the old bent & twisted ones you see) with an art. vine to climb up & down to get in & out of the tub. She seemed fine this morning. What has happened? you ask. Well, I set everything up again just like the night before. I just went to check you her & she was still sitting in just about the same place only licking herself. She has her foot bleeding again! I put the med. on & brought her cage back to her normal place in the livingroom. She was fine & then I leave her to some playtime alone & BOOM! What happened? Was it the change of moving her cage in there? Was it having so much play time or all the room? I'm wondering if it was to much to soon. Maybe I should keep things simple & hope things will change when I get her new baby (maybe this weekend... I'm waiting to see if we can get things planned out). Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks.

Perhaps it was the change...too much too soon for her. May want to do playtime with you in the glider proofed room with her. Once she becomes famuliar going in there...and playing for a week or two....then move the cage to that room.

Thank you Judie <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> That's what I'll do <img border="0" alt="thumb" title="" src="graemlins/thumb.gif" /> Just fed her mealies & her foot (well, it was her upper leg <img border="0" alt="dunno" title="" src="graemlins/nixweiss.gif" /> )looks fine. She is in her regular spot <img border="0" alt="thumb" title="" src="graemlins/thumb.gif" /> . She was up & waiting for me I guess... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Think you have made a wise decission. With the holidays coming...this may give you a sense of releif. Poor baby...seems like she has had these burns forever. <img border="0" alt="angel" title="" src="graemlins/frostyangel.gif" />

Re: Update on Precious - 12/21/02 04:25 AM

I had some bad news from the Vet. today <img border="0" alt="upset" title="" src="graemlins/upset.gif" /> . It seems that Precious' toes are not healing the way we wish they would. She may loose two or three of them <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> . The burns may have done more damage than we thought. We are going to return next Friday to see how they look. Dr. Cowan said that the underside of the toes look & feel good so that damage may just be to the top toes. She may only loose the toe nails (the toe nails are spliting like crazy). She seems to have lost the use of two toe already. All I can do now is wait & see; & try to keep her comfortable & happy.

Sorry to hear this. But a glider can get around just fine with the loss of his foot or toes. Within a month or so...she will be running around the cage as if nothing had happened. Most important thing is not to get an infection.

Sending Get Well Prayers. Happy Holidays!

Hi AJ!!

I have been out of town and just saw your post on your new glider and this post. It sounds like the set back is not toooo bad. I know it has been a long haul for you, but you are such a trooper and so is Precious. I'm so glad you got another glider, it is so much fun to watch them together. Did you get a male or female, I can't remember if your post said. I took Jazze and Java with me but was so busy I didn't get to spend the time with them I normally do so all I've done since I got home is kiss on them. I just love them so much. I know you will enjoy your new one and so will Presious. Good luck and as usual keep us updated.
I'm so glad to be back on GC!!

Hi Ya'll <img border="0" alt="wave" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" /> ,
Just return from Precious' 2 week check-up. Doc says the burns have healed, now we just have to wait for the fur to grow back & I have to put vit.- E on scars 2 times a day to try & help reduce scaring. She is still over-grooming her rump area. Doc suggested getting her a larger cage like DoodleBug's, full of toys to distract her. Also, making her a fur-buddy to groom. She isn't ready for DoodleBug yet. But we are still trying, just taking our time. We try to introducing them about every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. There wasn't as much crabbing this last time but Precious still act like she was going to get DoodleBug <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> if Doodle would just hold still...lol. DoodleBug just went head first into the bra... <img border="0" alt="roflmao" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> I'm trying something new right now; I have Precious in the pouch inside my shirt & DoodleBug in my bra. Doodlebug is not sure she likes this, she is crawling all over Precious' pouch <img border="0" alt="dunno" title="" src="graemlins/nixweiss.gif" /> Precious isn't crabbing so maybe that is good? Hold on... DoodleBug is climbing out. I guess she thinks 2 is one to many in there... <img border="0" alt="roflmao" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

Re: Update on Precious - 01/11/03 05:14 AM

Just tried letting Precious & DoodleBug play together. No crabbing, hissing or fighting <img border="0" alt="thumb" title="" src="graemlins/thumb.gif" /> Precious kept coming up behind Doodlebug, climbing on her back then she started licking & little bites (I think she was trying to groom Doolebug). Doodlebug was just standing still <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> . I think she was afraid to move. I wasn't sure I could trust Precious not to hurt her so I only let this going on for about 10 sec. Maybe I should have let Precious groom her longer, I think I made a mistake <img border="0" alt="worried" title="" src="graemlins/worried2.gif" /> . Doodlebug on the other hand seemed very glad I stopped it...she made a bee line right into my shirt & made a dive right down into my bra ... <img border="0" alt="roflmao" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> When I put them back into their cages & fed them, Doodlebug started hissing at Precious (about 3 times) then she barked at her(about 3 times) I wonder what that was about <img border="0" alt="dunno" title="" src="graemlins/nixweiss.gif" /> (Maybe Doodle was saying "hey lady stay off my back next time ..Hiss, Hiss... but if you want to play..bark, bark... I'm here... <img border="0" alt="roflmao" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> .. <img border="0" alt="clown" title="" src="graemlins/clown.gif" />

Almost forgot, Precious' toes still have to heal a bit more but (at this point)it looks like she will get to keep her toes <img border="0" alt="clap" title="" src="graemlins/yelclap.gif" /> ... <img border="0" alt="jump" title="" src="graemlins/multi.gif" /> ... <img border="0" alt="dance" title="" src="graemlins/dance.gif" />

Re: Update on Precious - 01/11/03 04:06 PM

I'm so happy for Precious' toes! <img border="0" alt="clap" title="" src="graemlins/yelclap.gif" /> I know it has been a long road for you and her but it sounds like clear sailing from this point. I'm so glad!! Doodlebug sounds as if she is trying to be friends - calling Precious with the hissing and barking. That's a good sign - I think you are going to have 2 great friends in a short while! When I first introduced Marge and Bugsy, Bugsy was also very still while Marge climbed on him - it scared me, too! Looking back, I think it was a very natural part of their getting to know each other and possibly setting the rules for who is boss. I'm sure others will give their opinions - that's just mine. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Re: Update on Precious - 01/13/03 06:26 AM

Great news!!!

Sounds like everything is finally working out.
<img border="0" alt="clap" title="" src="graemlins/yelclap.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="clap" title="" src="graemlins/yelclap.gif" />

Jazze did the same thing when I brought Java home. She would get on top of him and hold him down and groom him, and she would even bite him but she didn't hurt him. I think she was showing him who was boss. But that has changed. Java is the boss, he likes to throw his manhood around...but it's so cute. I love them both.
