Don't listen to them, Dave! Peg legs are sexy.

Besides, it will be so much easier to take care of your rig and all those furries with only one leg. That second leg was just taking up space and getting in the way. Nope, definitely no reason to see a doctor.

Ahh...your sarcasm is painful.

Prosthetics could be sexy.

"Gimme, Tom Cruise from the knee down, please....and how
much for Dwayne Johnson's thigh?..."

Or it could have secret compartments...built in metal detector...

"Sorry....what's that officer? No...no metal detecting going on around here. Just practicing my foxtrot..."

Leg is much better today guys!
Thank you for you support. :-)

Staying off it today anyway. Can't afford to go backwards with it.

Growman, hey!
My health insurance covers nothing postmortem, so I am careful to stay away from zombie-ism.
Has your daughter started begging you for gliders yet? :-)

With a pegleg, rattlesnakes can bite it all day. You can use it to kick them away...

Glad to hear the leg is feeling better! So much for those plans to turn you into Inspector Gadget.

(Although Dawn makes a very good point about rattlesnakes. Something to consider...) wink

Just slowly wave your tail, Justin, until he falls asleep... Oh, hi Dave! No, no, we're good. Just trying to... ah... teach Justin a, um, a new trick. Yeah.

*whispers to Justin* Don't forget: He keeps the yoggies deep inside that hole you started.

Too late Justin.
The exact-o knife got there first. And he did a better job so he gets the yogies.

Ahh...Adventure Girl, you're killin' me.
I was thinking more Tony Stark...as opposed to Inspector Gadget. :-(

Rattlesnakes are to be respected. That's one reason I don't want to go out in my slippers.

You have looked up all the indigenous poisonous snakes reptiles found there, right?

Plus the frogs during rainy season that have a poisonous slime that can put a dog in seizure and kill them if not treated quickly with hosing out their mouth and drinking milk to coat stomach?

Are you trying to get me to buy real estate here?

Portal to hell...I'm tellin' ya.

That's ok though. The worse it is, the better I like it.
Because the worse it is, the fewer people have hunted these areas. More for me.
My dogs are not wildlife enthusiasts. When we are out, they mostly hide under the truck and wait for daddy to complete his fool's errand. So hopefully there will be no frog eating.
Other than the Mojave Green I feel pretty good.
Have stumbled across plenty of snakes, stomping around in the desert for the last few years. Never had a problem that a nudge with my walking stick couldn't solve.
But they say the Mojave Green is aggressive. And it's venom is like no other rattlesnake. Not the usual flesh-melting variety, but an actual nerve toxin.
Survival rate from this bite is pretty grim.
But realistically an encounter is not very likely. Once I set up my hole I will be coming back to it every day and making all kinds of ruckus. Wildlife should clear out of the immediate area pretty quick.
And once I have the dogs using the Porch Potty and playing in the Play Spa, I could even leave them in the rig while I am out digging.

I learned in Demming,NM at rockhound park that the green Mojave snake moves through the bushes off the scorching ground and doesn't have to coil in order to warn with his rattle.Hubby learned that, and was fascinated by how quickly it can move through bushes a foot off the ground.

Did I mention he was a most beautiful color of green? Almost iridescent. It's rather mesmerizing.

Aww, it's not that bad. I was born in Tucson, my Dad lives there.

The first time I took hubby there, he learned the hard way about jumping cholla. We were walking in the dessert, he decided to step away to leak, came back with a pant leg full of it. He never wandered off like that again. I'm just glad he didn't leak on the bush!

Everyone should travel there at least once. I love my trees, grass, and flowers too much to live there again.

And like any rattle snake, the Mohave let you know they are there....
