I have heard once from Sheila that she had a joey that just would not come oop and it eventually died because he sufocated Today I was cheecking on Mystique to see if she had he joey yet. I knew she was due soon but I have been on vacation for the last week.

So I went in and pulled her out. She surprised me because it looked like she had 2 joeys on one side but I could of sworn she only had one joey ip. Her pouch opening was still closed and I knew she should be streching a little by now since she was due while we were gone. So i decided to push the joey out.... OMG there was only one joey. She was all wet from sweeting inside her mommas pouch. I really think that if she would of stayed in one more day she might of suffocated like Sheila had happen to her. I'm not kidding she is a GIANT. We weighed her and she weighed in at 20 grams. Her tail fur was all kinked because of the way she was positioned and she can't move her back legs well.

Anyway I just thought I would share and see if anyone else has had a large baby like this. Usually when ours come oop they are 10-14 grams and we thought 14 was big!

One of my BEW babies out of Tai Pan weighed in at 20 grams when he came oop. He was a single and had no problems what so ever.

At 8 weeks oop. this big baby weighed 80 grams. His name is Moby Dick (big as a whale ) and he resides at the Pet Glider.

[:"green"]Well, Carina keeps her joeys in pouch extra long, but never that long... All I can say is "Wow!" It's a good thing you checked on her & decided to be proactive. 20 grams is huge!!! Definitely want to see pictures...

Ok Here are a few pictures. I took a picture next to a wfb girl that was oop yesterday as well. And the wfb is even on the big side weighing in at 14 grams today. But look at how big this girl is!

Her coloring is I think due to her being soaking wet and pouch stained. But I'm not sure.

[:"green"]My goodness, Elisabeth, she's half-grown already She looks huge compared to the WFB joey! What a little sweety, though ... I wonder how long it will be before her eyes are opened... Not long, I bet!

Leyna she is not out of Edgy and Scallop. But she does look at lot like your QT. I oculd be very wrong but I really think her coloring is because she was soaking wet inside for all those extra days inside mommas pouch making her stained... if that is the case she should go to a normal color in a week or 2.

As for naming her lol.. I have been trying to think of big girl names! I like Bertha (but she isn't mean like the Bertha we know )

I will let everyone know when her eyes open.

Is that mom's first joey? Or does she tend to be over protective. As for a name- how about Fiona- Ogre's tend to be big

No this isn't Mystiques first baby. She has had 2 sets of twins and a single joey. All joeys have been normal sized. Maybe the baby just didn't want to come out!

While watching the joey nurse... she is so funny because you can tell she is trying to shove her self back into mommas pouch, but momma won't let her. Momma only lets her stick her head in. Most other mommas try to shove them back in but not Mystique and this big girllie!

Sil, What a big baby. I am so glad she is ok. How about naming her: RoseBud or Gertie (?) not sure about the spelling (short for Gertrude). Please keep us posted on how well she is doing. I remember Judie's big baby boy (Moby Dick) and what a big boy he turned out to be.

Congratulation
