I hate how ASGV.org is associated with Pocket Pets and make people believe their dieting methods are believable with the videos they have. I noticed they said do not do research because a lot of people that feed planned diets like BML and HPW are amateurs. Does (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets own ASGV? If not, why would they take up with them?
(Sorry if I sound infuriated. I just thought it was so phony.)

If you click on the word ASGV from your post, it will take you to a page on SGH about (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets which includes all of their AKA names (including ASGV). (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets has a lot of names that disguise their most well known name.

I noticed that after I posted. So they are acting as veterinarians, or are the people actually veterinarians?

Dr. Brunst is a vet- but reading from Virgil Klunder's Sales Pitch script does not get my respect. All of his videos are right out of Virgil's marketing plan used to sell gliders at malls and on his web site to sell "sugar bears".

It's a great way to make people believe all of the techniques. I mean, he's a vet, so it's got to be good info, right? Uggg... It's always a bit of a battle to properly educate potential new owners after they have watched all of those videos. They truly believe that just because it's a vet that's saying it, it has to be true. shakehead But that's ok, I enjoy educating them the right way anyhow. wink

Anyone that tells you not to do research is one that you should NEVER listen to!

I think one of the main reasons they say to stay off of forums on their web pages is because they know they have a bad reputation on them tounge

I'm not really sure what the advantages of the lies are. Maybe it keeps people buying more sugar gliders from them?

Some of them, yes. But some others (like it's okay for the majority of gliders to be housed alone) I will never understand their motives for spreading. I suppose in one way it could make glider ownership seem easier; if anything could possibly have a benefit to their profits I wouldn't doubt they'd take a stab at it.

It also keeps people buying their diet and their supplies from them and since it is put in a way that is like "NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER do research" people who see someone else doing research or feeding HPW or another GOOD diet are going to say 'oh my gosh NEVER do that!' and refer them to (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets to buy diet and supplies.

I personally like how you must be a 'vet' to access any part of the website.

I had a potential buyer calling me asking questions and was talking about the videos. I told him that they are not valid videos and he would not believe me b/c he was studying to be a vet and he liked to find these kind of videos. I tried to steer him away by giving him tons of knowledgeable stuff. Told him to check this website out and do more research before buying. Well anyway, he never called me back. i guess i gave him too much information to process...lol

This kind of thing sucks..
ASGV kept saying people on forums breed illegally and use amateur diets. He gives new owners a list of bad things to look for, so of course they are going to be like..."You are the kind of person I was warned about."

I ashamed to admit, I used to believe that ASGV stuff completely myself and used to tell others about it thinking it was the best advice in the world. Then my BF pocked around about one of the sites ASGV recommeneded for food and well it was pocketpets and he did some digging and that cinched it for me. I then found GC in my shopping for a cage and it's now the only place I come to.

Dr. Brunst is supposed to be the owner of ASGV - that is why Pocket Pets removed their name from it.

While I don't particularly like his videos, I will say their vet packet actually has been the BEST source of info I have gotten for my vets who wanted to learn that wanted anatomy, medication dosage charts, common treatment protocols, etc. No other source has put together info for them and often they don't get much general info from trying to consult about non-specific cases as the consulting vets(as they're busy too with their own patients). When they aren't able to get the info elsewhere, they are going to turn to the ASGV because they have a one-stop source for information from general care to acute conditions.

The reason that there site is limited for just vets is so that you don't have people self-diagnosing and treating - ironically though Pocket Pets info says their emergency formula often is enough to help giardia and that giardia is normal...but their vet info packet does at least give recommended treatment if the person comes in.
