Hey, I'm Megan. I have had my gliders for about five years. Layla & Gizmo, and Naya (their daughter).
I am here to continue to learn as much as possible.
Thank you.

I had first got into sugar gliders when my brother bought one at a reptile show and i did some research and found that they needed to be kept in pairs. I bought my glider from the same lady as our first glider, but the one i got she was selling for a friend (so i now know that it was probably a mill breeder). I was given Happy Glider pellets and was told that the pellets and dried fruit was good for them. When i had purchased them i thought i had done a lot of research on them. The one thing i completely overlooked that was the most important was their food, I'm only just now finding out about their diets. I had recently changed from the Happy Glider to Suncoast Sugar Gliders Chicken and Brown Rice formula and i thought that was a step up. I feel so behind and i hope that my gliders will still be okay long term.

I have been trying to research and decide on a good diet and i think I'm leaning toward AWD right now, but i want to make sure to do enough research on them all. What should i be looking for in a diet? The ones i had found so far were Vals Green Variety, oHPW, goHPW, LSGR Suggie Soup and a couple of others.

I currently have the Sturdy cage from Suncoast. It measures 36"t x 32"w x 21"d. I am looking to upgrade it soon to Suncoasts Europa cage (62"t x 30"w x 28"d). Are there any other suggestions of enclosures with roughly the same measurements and quality or anyone who has the Europa cage?

Thanks for any help. I look forward to introducing my gliders more thoroughly and posting their pictures, but its really late so i will have to that another day.

I think the Europa cage is very new. I had not heard of it until you mentioned it. Hopefully someone will come give us a review soon.

Before you upgrade though - measure any doorways you might need to roll the cage through to make sure the 28 inch depth will go easily through a door. If you need to move a cage down a hall way, this cage might be very tight on the turns if it needs to be turned to get into your room of choice.

It does appear to have a door large enough to put a glider safe wheel in and out of the cage but depending on the location of the door it may be difficult to reach many parts of the cage for easy decorating or hanging toys.

Like the Critter Nation cages - it has a cage pan with no bottom grate over it. I am not a fan of my gliders running around in the food scraps and waste in the bottom of the cage but other folks are OK with this type cage.

Ya, i wasn't sure about the no grate over the pan either, but it was the largest one that will fit through my doorway. And i figured i could put rhe wheels in while i was putting it together. I have a stealth wheel that I've had for awhile and i just bought a Custom Choice Cruiser. I wasn't sure about where else sold good, solid, reputable cages. Any suggestions?
The other cage i was looking at was the large sturdy cage that Suncoast has. The only difference between it and the Ca i have is that it measures 52" tall compared to the one i have which is 36" tall. That would possibly be good for them, but i was trying to get the biggest i could manage to fit in the space i have available. And once i get the new cage and have their diet settled, i was going to look into getting one or two more gliders.

Glad you have done your research and are working on improving the quality of their diet. It sounds like your cage and accessories are good choices and you are moving in the best direction in diet researching.

As for the cage you are looking into getting, it is as Candy said a newer cage and we don't really have any first hand experience reviews on it as yet. I also had not heard of it until just now when reading your post. I'm glancing at it, but haven't read on it yet. Personally, when I research anything, I try to look for reviews before I purchase. If I can't find reviews, I begin to rethink my selection. A large purchase is something I don't want to make a mistake on. I'm not saying that this would be the case with this cage, I'd just like to know more about something before I buy.

I have the Large Sturdy from Suncoast for my trio, I like it and there is another cage that is made by HQ, called the Congo sold at sugar glider superstore this is the same cage, but doesn't have the extra 6 feeder doors on the front, which I feel would be nicer, since you won't have to worry about the zip ties. However Lisa from Suncoast does provide the zip ties needed for all the doors and has the cheapest shipping rate, and I find nice to order from. The link above also has other cages to, but I would look into, but I recommend considering door size, depth to reach the sides and back for easy cleaning and furnishing, as well as the floor grate, removable grates are the best, but will also need zip ties. I use the reusable zip ties.

As for diets. I've always used some form of the HPW type diets. Specifically using the Critter Love versions Complete and Plus (more the Complete). Critter Love Original diet is the first OHPW diet, created by the same person (Peggy) who has branded the diets now as Critter Love. There are other good diets out there, but I haven't used any of those other than originally starting off with the PP diet before I really considered everything related to their diets. It wasn't because I hadn't researched, I did, but the conflicting information left me not knowing who to believe, and I had a source telling me the PP was the best she's tried.

Well I finished reading up on the cage and it sounds like nice designing, though still no feed back on it. If you do decide to go with this cage, please give us the feed back, lol.

Would the Large Sturdy cage be good for 4 or 5 gliders? Or if i end up getting that cage is it best to stay at 3? I dont want to over crowd them.
Thanks for all the help

I have cages similar to the Large Sturdy cage (or Congo which is the same size. My cages have the same base size but are only 48 inches high and there is still plenty of room for a colony of 6.

If I ever need to replace my current cages I would go with the Large Sturdy or Congo for the extra height.

I like having two large doors - one top and one bottom because I can reach anywhere in the cage. One door open leaves all the open door space I need at one time and I can monitor escapees if necessary at the same time.

Thanks. I will probably get the Large Sturdy cage, i would like the Europa for the size, but it only has one main door and a couple of smaller ones.

What are opinions on the Critter Nation cages vs the Large Sturdy?

I like the HQ cages, although the CritterNation cages do open up for ease of cleaning and arranging toys.

I just don't have room for CritterNation cages.

Is one built any better than the other? Like better materials or construction?

And how hard is it to attach the pan underneath the critter nation cage?
