I knew gliders where extremely clever for their size but yesterday Momo did something pretty amazing (at least I thought it was).

We where in the glider room (bathroom) and he was sitting on my arm, I started waving a hair comb at him for him to chase it as usual. Instead he stared at it for a couple of seconds and then turned to look at the reflection of the comb in the mirror, and then back to the actual comb.

He did this for at least five minutes, faster each time as if he was trying catch the comb and it's reflection moving at the same time.

Do you think he realized it was just the reflection or was it pure coincidence? When it comes to his own reflection he couldn't care less dunno

Nonetheless I feel pretty proud of this "dwarf lemur" :yes:

It could be. I know when play with my gliders in a room with a mirror, they don't seem to care about their reflection. I often wondered if they knew it was their selves because wouldn't they react to a new glider?

Yeah that's what I thought, he probably was atracted to the movement of both the reflection and the comb.

Terry I've also been curious about their reactions to mirrors. I remember that the first day I placed him in front of the mirror he did try to attack his reflection, a minute later he completely ignored it. He's never done it again.

It's almost what baby chimps do when they're placed in front of a mirror, at first they'll attack but then they realize it's themselves.

Gliders are scent driven - they probably realize quickly that there is no other glider there

I guess some are smarter than others. When Artemis discovered the mirror he tried to jump to the shoulder he saw in it. Three times. Each time colliding with the mirror. He tends to act first, think later.

LOL, sad but funny as our girls kind of do the same thing. They will jump at the mirror once in a while, but we have a mural in our bathroom that we play with them in and it has painted flowers on it, they all seem to want to jump to those as well, no matter how many times they seem to do it (after days pass that is).

We always feel sorry for them, but they always bounce right up and are ready to go do more.
