Will one of my girls lose an eye while playing? Is this something that you hear/see a lot of? How many of you guys have had to take a glider in to the vet due to an injury caused by a cage mate? Common? I'm getting my second female glider in July. I've read some sad stories and started getting concerned. Any feedback appreciated.

If gradually introduced to each other they should get along fine.

Occasionally two gliders will just not get along at all - that is rare but if they do not get along you will know it quickly. If they ball up fighting they should not be left in the cage together.

A little chasing or grabbing food from each other is perfectly normal as they adjust to each other sharing a cage.

We sometimes hear on the forum about the few gliders that have had issues with each other or that injuries have happened - but these are RARE situations. We do not always hear about the thousands of gliders that are happy and healthy together because their owners do not need to share concerns. They do not post the ordinary lives of their gliders.

Most injuries between gliders are mating injuries. If you have two females and introductions go well you do not need to worry about them injuring each other.

Thank you CandyOtte!! That all makes total sense. I will make sure to look out for this during intros and their interactions. Ty for your insight.

we started with 2 boys, then got 2 girls. After the normal stuff (pouch swapping etc) they became 4 on the second introduction. (first introduction boy tried to get on girl and she was not happy about it.) shortly after second introduction they were all sleeping in pouch together.
Then we got 2 more boys, again, after normal stuff, we tried introductions, it took about 4 or 5 tries. Some of them just were scared and wanted to have small fights, get along for a moment, then one gets to interested and small fight. We got them all sleeping in a hammock (so we could break up any fight) one girl was real resistant to the added 2, would stay awake outside the hammock or hang from it, then finally would go into hammock. At night they went back into separate cages, and during day they slept together in small cage with a hammock. After 3 days they all got the same cage together. No problems after all together. small normal spats only once in awhile, but no injuries and mostly 6 happy gliders.
So now looks like we are going to try for 8 in one cage. I have a feeling this is going to be much harder.
