Specific circumstances and needs has resulted in the decision to get a different cage for my trio. I had been seriously contemplating this need, and have been over and over all aspects of this change and how it affects my trio and myself. Yes, I reduced the cage size, but before judgement of how I can do that to my babies please understand there was reason. I was having a particularly hard time maintaining this large cage (physically), I live in small, tight quarters and everything was getting out of control, that's what affects me. Now my trio, each one of them are extremely adaptable, I have seen this over and over in my experiences (extreme moves & living condition changes). I can now also offer them out of cage time 3X a week, with one of those evenings being up to a hour or longer if they want to be out that long.

So without further ado- Ollie, Lulu, & Skadoosh's new cage.... The Brisbane, (in Sandstone color).

*All pics done in thumbnail due to the quantity, larger pic can be viewed if desired by clicking on the thumbnail.

After assembly

A little surprise, I'd never seen this feature on a cage.

This tab holds the sliding floor in place, a quarter turn and it releases the lock on the floor. No zip tie needed here!!!!

The essentials in place, well besides gliders and food.

These following pics, all done with gliders!!! The cage looks the same, but the gliders are on the move! Have fun searching for the gliders if you wish to. If not, then you may just want to look at this first one, lol.

All three at the floor feeding station!

Nice! There is nothing wrong with that cage, I have four gliders in one that size.

I like it! But I'm jealous! A thingy to hold the floor grate in place...

Love the color!

Thank you Kimberly and Dawn. I'm very pleased so far with this cage, besides I also love the color and that surprise feature, it seems there is less bickering from Ollie so far. I've hear only two occasions last evening where I heard him fuss, and so far this night I haven't heard any. I'm hearing only happy playing and eating!

The tab that locks the cage floor came with this cage. Although I didn't see anything in the instruction video about it, and I didn't read the whole directions that came with the cage, but I noticed a separate bag with three odd parts: the tab shaped thingy that was the same color as the cage, a spring, and a screw. Then while I was attaching the locks on the doors, I noticed a hole in the framing under the bottom door. After placing the cage on the stand and then placing the tray and floor in, it occurred to me what those extra parts were smile.

I believe they like it too. I started my three night play schedule (mon, wed, & fri or sat evenings) and they didn't want to stay out that long dunno

I also ordered them a treadmill, I'd been wanting to anyway, but decided now was a good time to get them something new for their new home. I'm looking forward to it coming!

Going on night four, and all seems to be going well.

I haven't heard any fussing or chasing by Ollie over feeding stations since Sunday evening, when I heard only a couple of brief fussing out of him.

They had an outing Monday evening, all three ready to come out of cage, but they all went back in after a bit to play in wheel or eat shakehead. Tonight's outing went pretty much the same. They were all waiting at the front of the cage and hurried out to me, first some grooming, then running around on me, but not wanting to do any exploring or climbing. Skadoosh was first to go back in and on the wheel, after being out less than 10 minutes. Lulu soon followed, like in seconds after Skadoosh, into the cage to eat. Ollie lingered maybe 5 minutes longer at the most, then went into the cage, not really sure why, he didn't eat or go in a wheel.

I decided to add a braided fleece vine from floor to first shelf. After all three being instantly, but briefly intrigued with what I was doing and examining the addition, Ollie immediately climbed up it to the shelf. All three of my gliders love to climb braided fleece vines! I have some somewhere, maybe in my storage unit, I need to check. I'm definitely going to make them some more though.

Well I did hear a little fussing this morning frown not for long. And then again just now after placing food the cage. Ollie came out first (he's usually out by the time I place in the food). He was eating, and I stepped out of the room for about a minute and then heard a little fussing again. I quickly went back in to see who Ollie may have been fussing with, and he was all by himself, quietly eating. He wasn't the one who was fussing. It was one of the girls, they were both still in the pouch, so I figured one stepped on the other's face or something. All is well and happy so far in their new cage!

Those little tabs are great aren't they? :agreed: My two cages have them there and one of the cages also has them on the doors. Which at first I didn't like since it was an extra step to open the door, but it has saved me a few times when I forgot to lock a door. I love them now and wish my other had it too.

sounds like things are going good with the cage set up. You've done a great job on it. I'd say your gliders like it too they have some cool things to play on.

Thank you sugar fluff. They do seem to like the cage, and that's the important thing. Also my Ollie boy has been much better behaved, so far, and that's good too.

That's pretty cool to have them on the doors also. I couldn't say if I ever saw this on cages before and this is my fourth cage I've had sines having gliders, well third new cage. It could be I had not noticed them before and didn't attach them, but I really can't recall seeing the predrilled hole or a tab and spring when putting the other cages together. I do like the way they look over a zip tie!

Zip ties can be a pain sometimes I think. Always cutting and replacing, but much needed. I have them on some of the feeder doors of both cages not only to keep them closed but more so when the gliders are jumpin around they don't rattle. I use 1" c-clips on the doors we use for the feeding cups just as a precaution in case they can work their glider magic and slide up the doors to open them. Can't be too careful. smile

Yes, zip ties can be a royal pain, I usually use the reusable kind, it's just a little easier. Fortunately on this cage I only need to use two of them on the two side access doors.

I did some rearranging after wiping the cage down today. I was kind of in a hurry getting it together to get the babies in for dinner time since it took so long to do everything. I didn't take photos but I did something a little different and made a video for YouTube. Anyway, the large wheel is now on the opposite side of the cage, but mounted to the back cage wall, much like I had more recently in the last cage. The high shelf on that side is not on the other, but not as high up and I also removed one shelf. The smaller wheel is on the opposite side of the cage, still on the floor, and a few of the other items were relocated (tunnel, frog swinging toys, Noah's Arc, one of the platforms, braided fleece vine and feeding stations). I left the square hammock where it was up top, and only added a fleece bridge to cover area under the wheel to protect food station and the boat toy pit.

I have not used these, but there are Reusable Zip Ties that can be used for all sorts of things.

They would certainly come in handy for glider cages wink
