So I noticed while I was getting my babies food ready that the ants invaded their entire cage! And I most definitely know they weren't there earlier in the day. I thoroughly cleaned every single thing and I've moved their cage to another location. I am just terrified my girls are going to eat them if they invade again while we're sleeping. Does anyone have any suggestions at all??? Thank you!

I had the same problem!!!!
I cleaned the area thoroughly, and tried to follow them to see where their hideout was. I vacuumed the areas bad the ants, and vinegar water along the walls and spots. Then, Terro traps in the corners far enough from the cage away from prying little fingers. The deal with Terro traps is you can't kill the ants when you see them, they have to bring it home to their colony. I also put baby powder along the walls because it destroys their scent trails, and dryer sheets under the cage wheels to make it hard to crawl up. And then every day, I would wipe all the shelves and all the ants in the cage away. It's a few days of work but usually you're able to get rid of them and I haven't had a problem since. I hope this helps?!

We are in a 5th wheel in a campground with 80' pine trees around us...

Within 2 days, we were infested with ants in the kitchen, the girls cage was covered with them. Like Alan suggeated, wipe down everywhere they are with vinegar water. Rinsed egg shells laying around helps deter them too.

It's an on going struggle, but we spray everything that touches the ground outside. Like weekly.

The first issue after spraying was dealing with the trapped ants. They scatter looking for a way out. So when you think you have cured the issue, there will be lingering ants who are lost. Continual wiping down and bagging or rinsing cloths in hot water helps. I use disinfectant wipes in the kitchen, which seems to kill this species of ants on contact.

Just for my own info... is there any problem with letting the gliders snack on ants? I've got some tiny water ants in my kitchen, but hadn't noticed them on the cage yet.

Seems like a win/win to me if the gliders like eating the pests...? (Assuming that nobody has tried to poison the ants first, of course.)

I'd be interested in that answer as well. I guess my main worry would be you don't know where or what the ants have been/eaten before that. Any pesticides or something bad for gliders. Also I've never seen ants on a list for gliders, mostly just mealies.....someone who has a better knowledge of glider anatomy/eating habits might know?

Personally, I'd be leery of 'natural' bugs. You never know what they've crawled through or eaten on their way to the cage.
